Someone must have told DJT this disputed historical tidbit. Pershing, while serving in the Philippine Islands was rumored to bury dead Muslim combatants with the remains of pigs. There is some dispute of this scenario.
I don't see how he thinks this will help him or the global war on terror

He has idolized this war criminal before. What the US did in the Philippines was absolutely horrible and rivaled the worst atrocities done by other colonial powers.
 
Doing something like what Pershing did would only incite more reprisal killings, and bolster extremist recruiting. It basically lends credence to the extremist narrative that Americans hate Muslims and have no respect for their faith. Not only is it petty and beneath us, it will not have the desired effect. I wish twitter would ban him already, he's violated their terms of service like three times that I myself have seen. They would be doing everyone, including him, a huge favor.

Correct or not, it has to be one of the worst things written and published by a US President.
