Trump was the accidential nominee through a comedy of errors.

No actually I was a life-long registered Republican and changed my party status to Independent when Trump became the nominee. I am still stunned at the ignorance that was displayed by the Republican party. No one could have watched any of those debates either during the primaries or with Hillary Clinton and walked away believing that Trump came close to winning a single one of them or was competent or qualified to hold the office of POTUS. So they voted for the insults that he was great at directing toward others. They voted for a 1000 mile wall that Mexico was going to pay for, which was about as realistic as Bernie Sanders campaign promise on a free college education for everyone. There were a few other GOP candidates that were much more qualified and competent to hold this office, but they were trashed with insults that Trump supporters applauded. They reminded me of an all white, angry, ignorant racist mob that came right out of the 1960's civil rights movement.

Now they've made their bed. You really couldn't have given Democrats a more powerful weapon than electing Donald Trump. Your first mistake was making Trump the poster boy of the Republican party, your second mistake was not being smart enough to vote for Hillary Clinton to keep Trump out of the oval office.

In fact here is Doug Elmets a long time friend and staffer of Ronald Reagan--and what he had to say about Donald Trump.

I totally believe you. no for reelz.

Lol ! Democrats fillibustered the 1965 Civil Rights act and introduced the world to Jim Crowe.

If you have to go back 50 years to when the parties were largely reversed to make your point, then your point isn't terribly relevant today.

It still astounds me that the most unqualified, incompetent person made it to become poster boy of the Republican party and is actually now occupying the Oval Office.

The problem was there were 17 GOP candidates--& donation pools and votes were being split. The RNC (and against the advice of the pollsters themselves) used unreliable polling data to set up two debate stages. Trump with 100% name recognition kept him front and center throughout the primary debates. Right wing talk show hosts[ sold Trump to their audiences, and FOX News gave Trump an unprecedented 2 billion in free media coverage, while ignoring more qualified GOP candidates. 54% of the Republican party did not cast a vote for Trump.

If Republicans can do 8 investigations into Benghazi, it's not hard to imagine what Democrats will do with Treason, Obstruction and Lies when they take over in 2018. We're also going to get a great education as to what that Emoluments clause in the Constitution is all about.
http://https://www.brookings.edu/research/the-emoluments-clause-its-text-meaning-and-application-to-donald-j-trump/

The GOP primary was amazing to see unfold. Never in a million years did those guys expect a lifelong, three times divorced, mobbed-up casino owning Democrat to win. But, win he did.

I think that once he nominated Pence, and put up Gorsuch, the Right breathed a sigh of relief. But, that was short lived. You just know that Trump has them all quacking in their boots.

Lol ! Democrats fillibustered the 1965 Civil Rights act and introduced the world to Jim Crowe.

The Democrats did not filibuster it, the Democrats proposed it.

The bill was called for by President John F. Kennedy in his civil rights speech of June 11, 1963,[7] in which he asked for legislation "giving all Americans the right to be served in facilities which are open to the public—hotels, restaurants, theaters, retail stores, and similar establishments", as well as "greater protection for the right to vote". Kennedy delivered this speech following the immediate aftermath of the Birmingham campaign...

The filibuster was a Southern thing. It just happened to be that the South had a lot of Democrats.

When the bill came before the full Senate for debate on March 30, 1964, the "Southern Bloc" of 18 southern Democratic Senators and one Republican Senator led by Richard Russell (D-GA) launched a filibuster to prevent its passage.[15] Said Russell: "We will resist to the bitter end any measure or any movement which would have a tendency to bring about social equality and intermingling and amalgamation of the races in our (Southern) states."[16]

The most fervent opposition to the bill came from Senator Strom Thurmond (D-SC):

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Rights_Act_of_1964#Origins

Strom, the soon to become a Republican, Thurmond.

I get it, any context historical or otherwise challenges your bias and your talking points.

The filibuster was a Southern thing. It just happened to be that the South had a lot of Democrats.

Strom, the soon to become a Republican, Thurmond.

Lol ! A 57 day long filibuster led by a Democrat who the Party at the time called " the Conscious of the Senate " is 60 years later now the GOPs fault ?

I'm well aware. I compared him to recent candidates because our political sphere is MUCH different from the 60's or even 70's, if you haven't noticed. Comparing him to more recent runners is much more relevant.

I never said different was better and so starts your first straw man. Fundamentally, it doesn't matter what I believe is better... it matters what the greater American population believes is better overall which they demonstrated this election.

It wasn't just republicans who elected Trump nor would I even call Trump a classic republican. To ascribe blame or glory to one group imparticular this election is remarkably ignorant. I thought liberals were totally against generalizations of groups, guess I was wrong. I also said that I've many problems with Trump (just recently with his comments on surveillance, for example). I also didn't deflect to Hillary Clinton nor does it fundamentally matter what I personally think of Hillary Clinton.

Once again, the American people thought Hillary Clinton was an inferior choice, not just me.

Gotta sstop saying its was a majority.

It wasn't.

Lol ! A 57 day long filibuster led by a Democrat who the Party at the time called " the Conscious of the Senate " is 60 years later now the GOPs fault ?

Just showing you the facts. It was a Southern Filibuster. Not a Democrat one.

You've obviously been a great listener of Rush Limbaugh who over the last 7 years has attacked "Establishment Republicans." He and other right wing talk show hosts have continually done that, basically violating Reagan's 11th commandment--"thou shall not speak ill of a fellow Republican." So in came the Tea Party politicians from the 2009/2010 era that went to Washiington D.C. to just say NO to everything, threaten to shut down the government at every opportunity, and defund Obamacare. They were and still are nothing more than political opportunists.

So right wing talk show hosts set the stage for Donald Trump. When he got on that stage they promoted him to no end.

But here is what Rush Limbaugh admitted to when a caller was able to sneak onto his program and corner him.

They did it for nothing more than ratings and those obscene profit breaks.

I've never been a listener to rush Limbaugh nor do I identify as republican.

You're basically stating what they have been stating for the last several years. Here's another one. Sean Hannity has been praising Julian Assange (Wikileaks founder) on his show quite frequently. He even went to the extent of fabricating a story around a DNC operative, Seth Rich, who was tragically murdered in a robbery attempt--stating he had wikileaks on his lap-top. Indicating that it really wasn't Julian Assange that leaked anything. He's also basically denying--the CIA, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and 14 other intelligence agencies reports of the Russians hacking into DNC databases. FOX News was threatened with a law suit and was forced to pull this fabricated lie off of their website.

Julian Assange has been hole'd up in the Ecuador Embassy in London for the last 4 YEARS, avoiding extradition back to the United States to face charges on what he did to G.W. Bush. Bascially put a target on every American soldiers back by leaking information. Recently Julian Assange leaked 1000's of classified CIA documents informing Terrorists on the tactics used to catch them. CIA Chief Pompeo--(Trump's pick) just labeled Julian Assange a hostile intelligence enemy of this nation that often works with Russia. Who is Hannity's largest audience? Trump supporters.

There was nothing more disgusting to me than to watch people, who claimed to be Patriots of this country cheer on, Julian Assange (Wikileaks founder)

Trump mentioned Wikileaks 164 times during the final month of the campaign.
http://https://politicalwire.com/2017/01/08/trump-mentioned-wikileaks-164-times-final-month/

This is the power of right wing talk show hosts--(who have dumbed down their audiences so much over the years) that they can no longer recognize who the enemy is.

Republicans conditioned the reflex in their constituents that they will respond to reality by saying "no, that's not true, our guy was a victim!"

Sadly, this conditioned reflex is the literal opposite of true, they're just failing to account for how truly negative the coverage of Hillary was (don't they wonder where their negative opinion came from?):

I have to jump in here...

It's the independents who swing the votes. Glad I could help.

I have to disagree with that somewhat. If it wasn't for Democrats in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania, Trump would have never won. They wanted their $20 per hour manufacturing jobs back and Hillary told them to forget it, but that she had jobs at Walmart for $15 per hour reserved for them.

...and despite all of this...Hillary still lost. The democrats went "all-in" with the world's most corrupt career politician, and it bit them in the ass. All those millions she fleeced those donors for.

We can only speculate at this point whether the DNC will actually clean their house and offer up a better candidate, or continue to bitch and whine about "the other guys."

You are going to see corruption like you've never seen before. Benghazi and all the emails you can muster up won't hold a matchstick to Treaason, Obstruction & Lies.

JUST TODAY Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign manager was just forced by the DOJ to finally disclose that he was working as a foreign agent for Russia recieving 17 MILLION dollars. Michael Flynn finally had to disclose that he was also working as Foriegn agent while attending daily Natiional Security briefings. Flynn is now under criminal investigation.

http://https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/10/us/politics/michael-flynn-turkey.html

We have 5 denials--of anyone within the Trump campaign talking with Russians during the campaign season. We have Trump surrogates admitting to meeting with the Russian ambassador at the RNC convention to insert into the Republican platform that "we will not arm Ukranians against pro-RUSSIAN separatists. We have Trump continually denying the intelligence coming out of the CIA, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, including 14 other intelligence agencies that Russians did indeed hack into DNC database's. At one point stating that he knew people that knew more than they did, and he would get back to us next week, which never happened.
http://http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/02/politics/russia-donald-trump-meetings-ambassador/index.html

We have Trump inviting the Russians into the Oval office, and while blocking out American media lets the Russian media in. In the process he gives them sensitive classified information that our allies didn't even know about. Classsified information that had never gone through the process of being declassified. There were only 3 other Americans in that room. H.R. McMaster, National security advisor, Dina Powell, Deputy National Security Advisor, and Rex Tillerson, Secretary of State. So which one of these people leaked this information to the Washington Post? I think Trump expects "loyalty" from his cabinet--but what he has never realised is that these same people swore an oath to this country to protect it from foreign and domestic enemies. Did it ever occur to you that they consider Trump to be the enemy?

You might want to watch this FOX News 8 minute video. Sheppard Smith explains that Trump surrogates were not only on the phone with the Russian Ambassaador, but with Russian intelligence agents, including the very day that the Russians were hacking into DNC databases. Collusion with a foreign advresary to interfere into an American election is TREASON.

No. The argument is that you shouldn't trust a study falsely attributed to Harvard (The center rents space there) based on what one person from a highly biased organization claims.

The first reaction any objective person regarding this "study" should be to question it.

When "respected" journalists publish Op-Eds in places like the New York Times trying to explain why journalists have lost objectivity in their reporting, obviously the findings of the Progressive Shorenstein Center should be questioned.

When the Podesta/DNC emails reveal favored coverage by the MSM, clearly Clinton can not have received more negative reporting than the President.

Objectivity continues to be in short supply by many.

Plenty of people have an intense and irrational hatred of Hillary Clinton. Any objective observer can perceive that and identify that it may be sourced from vitriolic rhetoric in right leaning media outlets.

During the primaries, President Trump really had kid gloves used on him. After the primaries, the reporting of President Trump took a negative turn. However, a good amount of that reporting was rather matter-of-fact, using his own words.

So i see a lot of it as how the sensationalism bias of the media was feeding off of President Trump's crude style.

There are surely media pieces that were unfair toward either candidate.

The President was attacked within the first hour of his announcement. The left's media jumped all over his comments about illegal aliens, and it went downhill from there.

If Pulitzer Prizes were awarded from out of context reporting, fraud, conjecture, and gross misrepresentation, the left's MSM would qualify to receive them.

There is no debate on this fact. I have no idea what you are trying to sell here, but if you get someone to buy it, consider yourself fortunate.
