The left-leaning lawmakers noted that the Senate has not yet held a single public hearing on the American Health Care Act (AHCA) set for a vote before July 4, which Sanders called an "embarrassing, disastrous process and an embarrassing, disastrous bill."

"We have to be part of the political process like we've never been before," Sanders said. "You have got to act in an unprecedented way. Get involved in any way you can."

"Let's put a face on who actually takes these Medicaid dollars," Warren said. "It's people in nursing homes."

So Juan and Evita are still at it while Nancy Pelosi once again says the Republicans are out to get Seniors and Children.

Looks like the kumbaya is over before it started.

If you get hung up on every thing a Senator or House member says you'll go crazy. Republicans make horrible public statements via social media, see Clay Higgins, "Kill them all." Or, see Donald Trump any time he talks about minorities, ever. Do you expect me to condemn their rhetoric and hold them accountable for every little controversey and dust-up? Or, would you like to step back and recognize that rhetoric is an influencing factor, but, ultimately people have free will to make their own choices.

Looks like the kumbaya is over before it started.

Sanders and Warren have always been outspoken opposition. The only thing that has changed is now, they actually have an audience that isn't 65+. Personally, I'm glad that the Republicans are taking heat for the AHCA. The heat is righteous, every congressman who voted for the bill should have to answer for its flaws. And McConnel's manner of conducting business should not be normalized.

It certainly makes sense that it should be made transparent. And it should be made totally clear and unbreakable that public healthcare spending per beneficiary will never exceed that of an average of canada, Germany, Japan and france.

They should probably just back off, let the right put whatever it is they want into the bill, behind closed doors, and accept it at the end. Do I have it about right?

They can always pass it to find out what's in it.

That out-of-context quote pretty much sums up everything wrong with the modern GOP. They're actually doing what you're falsely claiming Pelosi intended. Somehow you can maintain outrage about Pelosi's quote for 7 years but turn a blind eye to what senate Republicans are doing right now.

I know one guy who got hung up on what his Senators & Congressmen said. He did a crazy thing ... but not knowing he was being manipulated by them doesn't mean he was crazy.

About which Democratics did Clay Higgins say that?

No, they rammed Obamacare through and marshalled their stooges (elected and unelected) to lie about it.

The Resistance intends to deal with this no differently than anything else we've seen for 6 moths.

They can always pass it to find out what's in it.

If I recall correctly, back in 2009-2010, Republicans unanimously agreed that "passing it to find out whats in it" is the best way to approach healthcare legislation. I'm sure I can dig up some tweets to that effect....

So are you just going to accept the blatant hypocrisy? Or admit it's been partisan antics all along?

Any particular thing is just 1 alternative fact away from being something completely and fundamentally different.

Alternative fact of the day: Republicans are just doing the exact same thing Democrats did with Obamacare.

Obamacare had months of lead-up and debate. Remember the public option dropped to bring moderate Republicans on board? What the GOP senators are doing is blatant, unrepentant hypocrisy. It's disgraceful. If you're really offended by Pelosi's quote, than you should join the chorus of dissent on the undemocratic, shadowy process being used right now.

What hypocrisy would it be? What was practiced then ... or now?

And who's complaining about it now?

There's that quote about goose and gander ... perhaps you've heard it.
What's different now is that all of the Republicans are too timid to simply goosestep with the rest.
It would have been done by now if they weren't.

Regardless, we all know now what many were saying then.
Obamacare was built on lies, doomed to fail, and only intended to be a stepping stone to Single Payer.

What a crock of crap. It doesn't have to be transparent for the left to be against a Republican plan before they even know what it is. How would transparency make anything any different? We already know Democrats would be against it. That's why they're doing it behind closed doors, because Democrats are nothing but obstructionists, the party of no.

Given the open hostility of the press to all things conservative, the hell with them. They can rely on leaks like every other reporter

Does anyone honestly believe the press would tell you truthfully what was in the package? Hardly. Headlines like "GOP Bill Executes Seniors After Third Visit!"

When it's time for them to know, they will be informed.

If you want a blindly disobedient sheep to GOP politics, that's on you. Some of us want transparency in government and want to know what they're cooking up for our health care.

Why the need or secrecy, you think? Is it possible that if Americans knew what is in the plan, they might object?

Is this supposed to make sense?

What makes you think you won't find out? Democrats aren't part of the process because they are already on record as saying that they refuse to repeal Obamacare and replace it with something better. If they change their stance and want to replace Obamacare with something better then they can be part of the process. Right now they are nothing but obstructionists and the party of no, just as they did in the House. They have zero interest in repealing Obamacare and replacing it with something better.

Please do!

This doesn't have anything to do with Democrats. This is about the public. They're not just hiding the bill from the Dem caucus, they're hiding it from all of us. (It's not difficult to guess why.)

The reason you have hearings it that it allows for public and expert input on the key issues at play. The reason you have markups is that it allows the committees of jurisdiction, populated with members who have special interest in and knowledge of the relevant policy facets, to shape the bill and work through the challenges inherent in the issue. The reason you have floor debate is that it allows the body to deliberate and the body politic to digest what's being proposed.

This bill has had and will have none of that.

You demand transparency from Trump, and celebrate the BS in the press. There is no reason you need to know what is in it because whatever it is, it won't be good enough for you.
