They can bridle all they want, but when has a Republican proudly displayed the severed, bloody head of Nancy Pelosi? Or Chuck Schumer? Or Barack Obama? When have Republicans thrown bricks through store windows or assaulted Democrats on the street? When have Republicans rioted to prevent Democrats from speaking on college campuses? When have Republicans accused Nancy Pelosi or Chuck Schumer of treason? When have Republicans sent provocateurs into Democratic presidential rallies to start fights? When have Republicans urged “Resistance” against a Democratic president who they claim is a Nazi?

What do the Democrats mean by “Resistance”? Obviously, they mean to evoke the resistance against Nazi Germany by the French and others. Seriously? Are they completely demented? Perhaps they are. But the French Resistance, the Norwegian Resistance, et al., didn’t rely on pamphlets and op-eds. They used firearms. Is it really a surprise that one avid Democrat took up arms to Resist on his party’s behalf? And how likely is it that more Democrats will Resist with firearms?

Maybe it's time for Republicans to respond in kind.

The Empire Strikes Back | Power Line

I would say that politics has gotten very ugly over the last 15 years, and people seem more invested in one side or the other, usually in fear of whichever crisis is being preached at the time. It's an effective way of goading your base, but living in constant fear of some crisis leads to this sort of thing, the crazies snap and take matters into their own hands. It's been happening over abortions for decades, clinic bombings, doctor shootings. Thats what happens when you convince people that it's some kind of horror movie slaughterhouse inside, some people buy it completely. Now we have these "crazy lefties" who believe Trump is going to sell the country to Russia and poison the planet and feel the time has come to act.

Clinton (Bill) was an immoral corrupt philanderer who lied under oath! Bush (W) made up stories to tie 9-11 to Iraq, and crushed our economy with deregulation! Obama was responsible for every negative thing ever, shut him down! Trump is satan, satan I say! The losers after election night is over have always pushed it a little further. Republicans set a new low under Obama as far as "taking it well", and viola, it seems to have worked. What did you honestly expect the left to do in this awful game of back and forth? Especially when there's such a plethora of material to work with. And of course, when power shifts again, it will get worse, always. Those in power need to extend a significant and sizable olive branch that the "resistance" can live with, and those resisting need to accept reality and take it if the cycle is ever to end. So far Trump has locked the left out of everything and gone about kicking anthills on twitter. You really can't blame people for hating him. And it doesn't help that both the last 2 R presidents lost the popular vote. After winning a race like that, you'd think a president would tread lightly instead of trying to invoke sweeping, highly partisan, change. Was the severed head over the top? Absolutely. Just like the "rope" image was. And throwing eggs at Dubya at his inauguration. Gullible, reactive people have always been out there, and the bar has been lowered every time on what is acceptable behavior.

As far as "resistance" goes, I see "resist" a lot but not resistance. Regardless, implying that "Resistance" evokes fighting-the-Nazis mental imagery isn't really accurate imo. Fighting some occupying force, sure. But we're about 5 months into a 4 year Godwin convention so take it and run with it

I found this part of the blog interesting:

It is fair to say that violence has been incited by the leading cultural voices of the Left, who every evening on television call President Trump a Nazi, a fascist, a racist, a misogynist and a traitor; who denounce him in similar terms in every entertainment awards show; who were calling for his impeachment before he was inaugurated; who condone rioters who, wearing black masks, smash store windows with bricks and assault Republicans; who make it impossible for a conservative to give a speech on a college campus; who say, every day, that Republicans are trying to make everyone sick and destroy the planet; who display the president’s severed head as a trophy and enact his assassination in Central Park; and so on ad infinitum.

There is more truth in this statement than people on the Progressive-Left are willing to give credit for. Especially the bolded part.

We are a Television-Internet Junkie society, with most citizens getting their views from pundits and talking heads of various stripes in those media. When people are deluged over and over with what can only be described as a massive propaganda campaign to undermine a duly elected President from, as the blog points out, the moment he was elected? What should we expect but riots in Oregon and shootings in Washington.

But hey, it isn't the rhetoric... which is merely honest opposition to a mentally defective, fascist, racist, misogynistic, homophobic, xenophobic, Islamophobic, anti-environment, white supremacist, puppet of Russia hell-bent on turning our nation into a dictatorship. Nope!

It is clearly the truth of all those labels that causes heroes of the resistance to act on their own accord.

It really is sad that so many people on the left have such seething hatred. They'll fully and unquestionably agree with whatever liberals say, regardless of whether it's proven or fact. They could say Trump dines on babies while shooting blacks for sport, and they'll mindlessly believe it as fact at this point.

The thread title is appropriate. After all, the conservative shooter that shot Gabrielle Giffords hit her right in the head.

I apologize for that one. He was just a crazy conspiracy theorist not a conservative. I'll try to make it up with these two: Jeremy Christian and Robert Dear Jr. I want to make clear that my point is these killers are using language that is common of the right wing. I don't believe either party can be blamed for mentally unstable people committing crimes, but I'm pointing out examples to show crazy people are the real reason for these attacks.
