After the reaction to the Comey opening statement yesterday, I am more convinced than ever that nothing Trump does will ever get GOP members in Congress and around the nation to openly break with him. The Comey statement seems to be something of an inkblot test where the viewer takes away what they brought with them in the first place. If you do not like Trump - it shows he committed obstruction of justice and needs to be removed from office. If you like Trump, you see vindication and that big "nothing burger" that seems the meal of choice for the GOP these days.
But what if somebody found Trump having said this early in 2016:
"We need all the help we can get and if the Russians or anybody else can give us some dirt on that bitch Crooked Hillary - damn it, lets use it. See what we can do to advance that and lets work a deal with anybody who can help us win in November."
Would anything short of that convince the current Trump apologists to finally turn against him?
