I already predicted Trump was gonna pull away.
Except he isn't doing what's in the US best interests or anybody else's interests. We share the planet earth. If it gets destroyed we all suffer from it equally. I'm not suggesting we join Paris because everyone else is doing it, I'm saying everybody else is doing it because it's smart.First, the habitual fretting of liberals over "what the rest of the world" does or thinks underscores Trumps point; he was not elected to please foreign interests but to work in the US interests.
I don't. I'm saying that if even these horrible countries are capably of recognizing the reality of Climate Change it proves how ****ing stupid Trump and his supporters are for ignoring the problem. If you believe that the choices of the brutal oligarchy of North Korea or Russia or China (or Elon Musk or Tim Cook) ARE more important than the interests of the American people then just say so.
Because they didn't need them. As I pointed out to you already China signed the agreement. Every nation on earth with the exception of Syria, and I think Ecuador signed it. Ecuador chose not to sign because they didn't think the protections were strong enough, and if you think Syria is a smart country well.......Third, if all these homebrew schemes for enforcement were intended by the signatories, they would have put such mechanisms into the agreement. They did not. It was intentional.
For many reasons it was a crappola agreement and for many reasons it was not in American interests.
Got it?
That's a point well worth sharpening." I'm saying everybody else is doing it because it's smart. " MW #78

Oh, I understand that you believe that, but the problem is that it's a delusionally stupid thing to believe. Only someone living in an alternate reality than the rest of the planet earth could believe something so ****ing asinine.
Its not very smart to draw conclusions if you don't know anything about the subject, either.
Except for the people who want to destroy our country...Trump is doing more harm than anyone could've imagined.
What about the Paris deal precludes the dangers to the climate? Step in the right direction maybe but a symbolic one, no?”MrWonka” said:Except he isn't doing what's in the US best interests or anybody else's interests. We share the planet earth. First, I am sorry which developed countries are “foreigners welcome”? Because looking at immigration policy worldwide the US is near the top of the list of welcoming nations for high skilled workers.”sear” said:Trump's anti-Muslim, anti-Mexican attitude has displayed the Foreigners No Longer Welcome Here. The result, early indications are that immigration is slacking off, and that things like top global talent that might otherwise have attended U.S. universities are choosing other more foreigner-friendly nations for their education. And a lot of high tech jobs in the U.S. are filled by such grads, simply because the U.S. can't produce enough of them to meet the job-market demand.
That is certainly one way to see it as I think we can all agree Americas key partners are the least happy with this pullout; but, in international politics money speaks louder than good-will; so if trump is working this as savings to balance the budget in a politically acceptable way the long game is far improved. Is that his logic? hard to say, as broke and no good-will is certainly a worst position.”sear” said:Trump's Paris accord policy is rather more an insult to our friends and allies, than a practical policy position. That too paradoxically will actually weaken our standing in the world; for example reducing incentive for them to cooperate with U.S. when they otherwise might not.
That's not really true. Most of the harm he has done is to liberal values and I'm perfectly fine with that. The rest is just liberal's hype.
He is just what I would've thought, too.
Then why complain? We knew about what to expect. We gave him the job. We get what we deserve. Nothing to complain about.
The vast majority didn't vote for him....so no, "we" didn't give him the job....and "we" won't stop complaining until he is gone.
Your logic is false. Only 25 percent vited against him. The others either gave him their vote or decided to cast their vote for the person the others chose. That's how democracy works.
Which means zilch. His people knew which vote was important; understood group decision making. Cool trick. You might want to look into it.
The point is..."we" didn't vote for him.
....aaaand more people attended Obama's inauguration than Trumps. Neener neener neener. :2razz:
Because rendering Earth uninhabitable due to anthropogenic genocide is among the most likely doomsday scenarios we have confronted ourselves with. Why Is The Paris Accord Even Necessary?
