Impeachment is now nearly dead even in the latest poll on the subject.

Poll: Impeaching Trump, 43% yes, 45% no

Support is growing for impeaching President Trump, especially among younger Americans, and now those backing his removal from office top his Gallup approval rating.

A Morning Consult/Politico survey said Wednesday that the nation is divided on impeachment, with 43 percent giving it a green light and 45 percent opposed.

43% want the House to impeach Donald Trump - 45% do not want him impeached. That 2% difference is within the margin of error and thus the issue could actually be dead even. But there has been a five point shift in the last few weeks going in the direction of impeaching Trump.

At the same time, polls show a jump in support for Trump of a few points based on the early days of his foreign trip and positive visuals coming out of the Middle East. Trumps approval is now in the low 40's in several mainstream polls although his negatives are much higher.

What we seem to be seeing is a hardening of opinion against Trump among Democrats and some Independents while his core base in the mid to high thirties holds fast and he picks up a few more points from Independents as well.

In other words, the division grows deeper as opinions about Trump become more polarized.

That's rather amazing. 50-50 split on impeachment. Pretty soon the GOP will turn on this guy. I hate to be Don next year when election issues begin to heat everything up.

I doubt it if they will turn on Trump. They have made a collective decision to sleep in the same bed with him and until the doctor tells them they have a bad case of VD they will continue to do so. And that blood test and exam is not scheduled until November of next year.

What will happen is that the divide and feelings on both sides will grow deeper and stronger and the bad old days of the late Sixties and early Seventies are now back in full swing where half then action despises the other half.

Thank you Donald Trump and the Russiapublican Party..

Sorry...no cigar.

Bogus poll (again)

Oversampled Republicans...greatly oversampled Democrats...grossly undersampled Independents.

REJECTED!!

So I'm guessing you want every poll to be 33%? Making polls just as useless?

He won't be able to handle more partisan issues, that's for sure, but I highly doubt the GOP in it's current state will turn on him. They had their chance during *****gate.

The wife and I were talking about this last night. She was of the same opinion as you. I have a slightly different take.

Sure, right now, it looks like the GOP is wedding itself to Trump and allowing the party to absorb all of his problems. But, I seriously doubt that they will stick to it as his poll numbers plummet. IMO, the departure of Dubke has more Republicans concerned than they are currently letting on.

This Administration is more concerned with protecting Trump than doing what is best for the GOP. But, right now, the GOP and Trump are aligned. Protecting Trump just so happens to also be what is best for the GOP today. I know that. But, next year? It may well be the opposite, especially if his approvals remain in the 30% range. They will throw him under the bus.

I believe 43% which are most likely Democrats who cannot accept the fact they lost and will stoop to any level to hurt Trump. Hopefully we will not impeach a president without real proof criminal wrong doing. As far as impeachment for lying well if we do that we might as well not elect anyone to office. They are all liars.

I dunno...I don't think any of the GOP are willing to sacrifice themselves for Trump. As polarizing a figure as he is, it would be extremely easy to abandon him once he drops below an acceptable level for an unacceptable amount of time. I can see them supporting him during the election, because he had all the conservatives in his hand, but the moment he doesn't, I'm sure they'll drop him like a bad habit... It's not as if he made it easy to be a Republican politician. It's the ultimate heads or tails - either he'll be wildly popular, or he'll go up in flames. These GOP politicians have figured out how to protect themselves so matter the outcome, and Trump has made it easy, passing all this off as He Himself coming in to save the day...

They are stuck between a rock and a hard place. Trump is popular among their hardest core constituents. So, we have seen the GOP slowly morph into the party of Ted Nugent and away from that of William F Buckley. Problem is--and, most of us know this--"Ted Nugent" has a very limited base: 25% max. And, as Trump pisses off more and more of the 75% who find Ted Nugentism deplorable, the average Republican politician will have to make some hard choices.

Well, what matters here is whether Trump has done something that warrants impeachment.

I think it's important to also consider that Trump has made a lot of enemies within the GOP. I am sure that there are many who are just waiting for the opportunity to stab him in the back.

lol...not really. Think about it. Did Clinton really do something that warrants impeachment?

If there is ANY truth to this and it can be proven he said this, then more Republicans will turn on him and realize that they have been conned. They'll start looking for reasons to impeach him.

TRUMP ‘KNOWS REPUBLICANS ARE STUPID,’ JARED KUSHNER ALLEGEDLY SAID TO FORMER EDITOR..

One of the strategies Donald Trump employed as he began putting his name on the U.S. political map years ago was championing “birtherism,” the long-held conspiracy theory that President Barack Obama was born outside of the U.S. and hence should never have been elected. He often chastised Obama and demanded the president produce his birth certificate, revving up an anti-Obama base that eventually helped put Trump in the White House.

Evidently, Trump may have been using the so-called birthers only as a means to an end.

His son-in-law, Jared Kushner, who is also a senior adviser to the president, allegedly told a former editor of the newspaper he once owned that the billionaire real-estate mogul didn’t believe his own “birtherism” claims, and only made them to charge up Republicans because they are “stupid,” GQ reported.

I dearly hope you are right on this one. I watch a bit of Morning Joe on MSNBC and see Republican former Congressman Joe Scarborough anguish through these last four months where he openly twists and turns about why his party has sold its soul to Trump. He cannot understand it and he waits for the day where some brave Republicans in Congress will say NO MORE and publicly lead the fight to stop him and remove him. Sadly, that day has not yet come and I doubt it will.

But I hope you are right.

I think Trump is right about his support when he said he could murder somebody on Fifth Avenue and people would still vote for him. Heck, he could come up to a woman, grab her between the legs, insult her in Russian, make fun of any disability she has, then murder her and the Trumpkins would still support him. The question is how many of those people there are.... and I put it about 30% give or take a few points either way. So its hard to see his poll numbers ever going below 30 even in the worst of times for him - which have pretty much been ever day since Jan 21st.

thank you for the link to that article. Of course, Republicans will have to deny Trump ever said that as their usual know jerk reflex where Trump can do no wrong. Heck, even if it was on tape they would find a way to explain it, rationalize it, or my personal favorite that we see for so many Trump cases of diarrhea of the mouth - "he was only joking" and it is not to be take seriously.

If we take those excuse makers at their word, Donald Trump is a bigger comedian telling more jokes than Eddie Murphy ever did.

I doubt if this can actually be proven BUT if it is it maybe a huge problem for the GOP and Trump. Remember Trump sold himself as the anti-establishment, the anti-elitist, the anti-politician. IF he said these things it proves he isn't anti any of those things. It will prove he's a lying politician who played the little peons for fools.

They may care that they were lied to, and conned by the guy, and that the GOP allowed it to happen.

Not all of them, you're right some will just make excuses and stick with him. But I think many others will be PO'ed they were conned and lied to.

Some may no longer like him, but I doubt they will desire impeachment unless its a serious crime.

Furthermore, why would reasonable negative evidence affect Trump voters? They have so far chosen to ignore any and all reality where Trump is concerned. Many on the forums view their support of Trump as binary, and not even related to Trump.
It's: Not Hillary

As long as Trump doesn't magically transform into Hillary Clinton, their support stands firm. Trump knows this, it's why he said he could shoot someone in the street and they would still support him.
Trump was right about that wasn't he?

If you're ignorant and haven't spent your life preparing for global competitiveness, maybe simple and cling to your bible, how else are you going to fight back at the people who are smarter and more prepared for the modern world than you are? Absolute blind loyalty is about all you have to differentiate yourself.

Yes, many would still stick with him, especially the racists will as long as Trump keeps spewing hatred at the Muslims and Mexicans.

But I think a lot of Trump supporters will be PO'ed if it can be proven Trump only ran for Prez because he thought Republicans were stupid enough to vote for him.

45% have a case
43% don't
:lamo

What was the impeachment charge again? :lamo

It's possible, in theory some straw has to break this camel's back.

But don't you recall this same thing all throughout the entire campaign?

Surely this news will sink Trump....what? His poll numbers went UP.
Oh, this is it for Trump, what a buffoon. His polls are UP!?
***** grabbing? Elect Trump, Fire Billy Bush!

Interesting. I wonder
- what the question was
- how many were asked
- how they were selected

But at this moment I don't se, what would legally justify impeachment.
