The US system of government has been heading south for a long time. As in the economy, in the past business were all about the money. The businesses were excellent at camouflaging that money was the root of all the business stood for. They made the customer feel good and the product was manufactured with pride and had a reasonable useful life. The entire systems, political and economic have slowly stopped caring about what the customer/voter thinks of them. The money is the only thing that matters!
I think that Donald Trump came in and just accelerated the race to ripping all the remaining camouflage off. He has exposed the system in a quick and dirty fashion. People on this board have been paying attention these last months, so I'm not going into the examples. They are everywhere. Some are trivial, some a little more disturbing and some things are almost beyond comprehension. One side is quick to pounce on the most trivial mistep/gaffe, the other is quick to point out the lightweight nature of whatever the news is. We can condemn, defend and turn a blind eye to all of this and it will not change anything. Until the money is dealt with the United States of America will continue to have the government we presently have and I believe it will get worse. I also think that we the people don't have the gumption or the interest in changing anything. Left, right they're all crooked. Donald Trump just pulled all the cosmetics off the old girl and she's not looking good in the mirror.

You don't say! I'm so glad we got that off of your heart!

Jobs are all about the economy. The economy is all about money. Trump is all about money. Trump now heads the government thus his wanting government policy changes to increase jobs is all about money. ;)

Sure, money in politics and the corruption it inevitably leads to is a major issue for both Conservatives and Liberals. Wealth, elitism ,political connections and a disconnection from the common every day American seem to be requisite for a modern day Presidential candidate. Its not what our founders intended when they penned the Constitutional requirements for Presidential eligibility

Guide to the Constitution

" No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States."

ARTICLE II, SECTION 1, CLAUSE 5

Money, influence and connections can also legally insulate a candidate from the consequences that would apply to the rest of America. The tenant of " Equal Justice Under the Law " no longer applies, and therefore Govt corruption at the highest levels is never checked. These leads to a abuse of power, persecution and Govt over reach. The different legal standards applied to the Political class is not even' subtle anymore, it right out in the open, and many Americans are indifferent to it.

As far as businesses go I tend to give small businesses a pass and focus on the large corporations who these days seem only accountable to their shareholders. Im a low tax, free market Conservative but when large corporations put the shareholders interest over the interest of the Nation I start to have an issue with it. Its not a partisan issue either, written into Dodd-Frank are provisions that are intended to make Banks and Corporations more responsive to their share holders.

Im all for free trade and investment, low corporate taxes, etc but refusing to balance the interests of shareholders against employees and customers and the community because your primary focus is on the shareholder is indefensible. The Board of directors for any large publicly traded corporation are in now way legally bound to put the shareholders interest over all else.

The fact that business is all about money is fine. That is how wealth is created. The fact that government is all about money is not fine. It has to be about the common good. The problems we have today with government all arise from government's failure to address the common good. There is no reason to compare them in this way.
