I placed this in Partisan Politics because I want to take a partisan politically view of the Trump scandals for the purposes of the 2018 elections.

I would very much like to see some balance restored to our system of checks and balances by having the Democrats retake the House. Because of the numbers involved, the Senate seems out overreach next cycle. But the House is very doable if we can't wave election.

Trump and all his scandals and incompetence and lies could well be the motivation for such a wave election. But with the lightning speed of the last week and a new major revelation coming almost on a daily basis, I wonder if this thing will peak far too soon and Trump will be gone with the wind before mid 2018 arrives? If he is toast by then, a President Pence could get a public support boost as the nation unites behind him - more or less - enough to keep the GOP control of the House.

Maybe the best thing is for the Congressional investigations to slow down, take a back seat to the Special Counsel inquiry and let it all simmer on low for a year and then heat up next summer and early fall.

I vote for the most expedient resolution. The longer this drags out the more damaging for the country as a whole.

I am afraid to let you in on a secret might disillusion you, but the checks and balances do not require the Democrats to have a majority. As a matter of fact, their behavior over the past eight years and at present is a major part of the problem we are seeing unfold. At present and I say this as a person that is very unhappy about Trump's Presidency the liberals have become a distinct embarrassment and have caused acrimony without any good reason.

They do require the Republicans to have a pair and use them. And since that is NOT happening - the alternative is for the Dems to get the House.

The special council has just about insured that this will last into 2018 if not 2020. You don't want an impeachment/coup as this will rile up the Republican (and perhaps independent) base as much as the Democratic base is riled up now.

Says the guy who wants it to speed along as quickly as possible. Trump's adversaries have always underestimated him.
