Today two things happened in DC that - when added together like one plus one - could give us a number really larger than two.

First, Chair Devin Nunes basically blew up his own committees investigation and his own credibility and his own integrity by going to the White House with information that basically said precious little and certainly DID NOT change anything about the accusations in the Trump Tweet storm. Nothing he said changed that. But his actions did destroy his own committees investigation.

Second, ranking Dem Adam Schiff said he now has information which goes beyond what he described Monday as circumstantial regarding collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. He had a mountain of circumstantial evidence which was growing increasingly damning - but now has something far more substantive.

Question: did Nunes intentionally and deliberately knowingly blow up his own committees investigation to derail Schiff and take away the national platform that Schiff used so expertly on Monday?

Nunez might be crazy ..... but crazy like a fox. Sure - this fox is owned by Trump and is now his pet fox - but this might be the Nunes strategy to aid Trump by his own public immolation.

Bascially , what Nunes did today is like the monks in Viet Nam who set themselves on fire to protest the war. He was willing to pour gasoline on himself to provide Trump with a few minutes of warmth. But when the fire department rushed to the White House and put out the flames we realize it was not that cold out in the first place.

1) We don't know what Nunes went to Trump with. While he certainly discredited himself permanently as a member of an oversight committee, if he went to Trump with what he told the American public then Trump has only had his feelings temporarily assuaged. However, if Nunes fed classified information to him directly then frankly I don't even know what the ramifications of that would be, though I find it difficult to believe even he would do something quite that stupid. In light of the fact that he's clearly playing defense for Trump and he was on the transition team, I can't tell if he's covering himself, throwing his own body on a grenade to save Trump, or...?

2) I don't know Adam Schiff. I don't know if he's honorable, consistent or of sound mind, so I can't comment on his statement that there is more than circumstantial evidence. Now, if somebody like Leahy or Sanders were telling me that, then that would be one thing, but Schiff? I don't know.

I was wondering who would be the first sacrificial lamb of the Trump administration. Looks like it's Nunes. Where'd they find this guy??? Russia? He seems relatively new to the scene 2013ish?
