Do you really want to Piss-Off 38 Million Senior Tax Payers?

Repeal it, throw 20mm people off, give people cheap policies that cover zero and move on. Die people, die. Anyone who think insurance completion will improve things are dreaming

That about sums it up.

Where't you doing that before 2009? :doh

How'd that work out for you?

They get what they want cheap policy that covers nothing, have an illness and we pay.
Don't people remember health costs were the number 1 reason for bankruptcies??

Makes me wonder who you people have left that you do find credible other than Sean Hannity and Rush Limpjaw.

You know who's NOT credible? People who make cutesy negative nicknames.

It's starting to get Real for a lot of people ...

Just the threat seems to have worked because now the House is trying to revise the bill to make it more senior friendly....but they still miss the mark on the 'block grants'.

I hope the GOP bill dies in the House.

No, thats the point. AARP has been advocating against my freedom for decades. Thats tens of thousands of dollars down the drain that I could have put in a savings account. And there are millions more that feel the same way, which is why AARP lost the last election. :2wave:

AARP to Alert 38 Million Members How Their Members of Congress Vote on Health Bill

WASHINGTON, March 17, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- AARP Executive Vice President Nancy LeaMond released the following statement today in response to the pending vote on the House bill that would create an "Age Tax," weaken Medicare's solvency, put at risk seniors' ability to live independently as they age, and give sweetheart deals to big drug and insurance companies. In a letter sent to all 435 members of the House of Representatives, AARP maintained its strong opposition to this harmful bill and urged each Representative to vote 'No' on the proposed legislation. AARP believes this legislation will have a significant negative impact on the health of millions of older Americans ages 50 to 64, as well as other vulnerable groups, including poor seniors and disabled children and adults.

"AARP recognizes the magnitude of the upcoming vote on this harmful legislation that creates an Age Tax, cuts the life of Medicare, and gives sweetheart deals to big drug and insurance companies while doing nothing to lower the cost of health care or prescriptions. We intend on letting all 38 million of our members know exactly how their Representative voted. Our members care deeply about their health care and have told us repeatedly that they want to know where their elected officials stand. We will communicate the results of the House vote to our members and the public through The Bulletin, a print publication that goes to all of our members, as well as through emails, social media, and other communications channels.

"This bill, if passed in its current form, will disproportionately hurt older adults between the ages of 50 and 64 by dramatically increasing insurance premiums to unaffordable rates. Allowing insurance companies to charge older adults an Age Tax 5 times or more than others for health insurance, and reducing tax credits to help pay for it, is quite simply unfair.

"AARP is also concerned that this bill weakens the fiscal sustainability of Medicare, reduces cost-sharing help for out-of-pocket costs for 50- to 64-year-olds purchasing coverage on the individual insurance market, increases the number of uninsured Americans, and puts at risk the health and well-being of millions of poor seniors and disabled adults and children by capping funding for much needed services that allow individuals to live independently in their homes and communities.

"We are also profoundly disappointed that the big drug and insurance companies were given sweetheart deals while nothing was done to lower the cost of health care or prescriptions. Congress must do more to bring down the unsustainably high health care and prescription drug costs for consumers and taxpayers."

Wasn't the PPACA 300% premium increase for seniors equally bad public policy?

Why was age an acceptable pre-existing condition deemed (up to) 6X as bad as tobacco use was under PPACA?

We should either allow insurance premiums to be based on actuarial risk factors (aka pre-existing conditions) or not - but picking and choosing which actuarial risk factors (pre-existing conditions) must not be used and setting arbitrary "politically correct" limits on certain actuarial risk factors makes no sense at all.

It seems that AARP has decided that a 300% premium rate increase based on age alone was fair, just and a really great idea yet not a 500% premium rate increase. I agree that a 500% premium rate increase is worse (less affordable) than 300% but the concept is exactly the same - letting congress critters set prices for "private" goods/services.

AARP is a radically liberal organization. That in of itself discredits anything they have to say.

AARP is trying to invoke Venezuela style politics. We don't need to be told what to do by a bunch radical extremist liberal organizations.

Well you will be paving the way for Democats to control congress in 2018 and eventually the presidency in 2020. I'm sure they thank you for your effort.

How did that argument work out for you in 2016? When you can show some results, then you can brag.

I use #resistbot to fax letters to Cruz and Cornyn every day. I'm retiring June 30th and I need coverage from age 62-65.

To use the program text "resist" to 50409.

Don't worry I will when the Republican congress ties the political noose around their necks and jump off the ledge with Trump tied to them. First congress in 2018 and then Trump in 2020. Buckle up .

Right, bring back the good old days of Obama and his incompetence plus poor economic performance which you continue to ignore. You liked Obama because he told you what you wanted to hear then did what the hell he wanted which did nothing to grow the economy or create jobs. His resume was empty and his Presidency a failure yet that is what you want to return to? How truly American of you, NOT!
