It looks like one of the reasons why NY District Attorney was fired despite previous votes of confidence is an effort to protect one of Trumps strongest media allies and one of the partners who helped get him elected - FOX NEWS.

US Attorney Preet Bharara was investigating yh Roger Ailes sex scandals at FOX when Trump fired him. High powered insider witnesses were scheduled to testify before a grand jury on the matter very soon.

This may be far more about Trump protecting an ally that is is about anything else.

Winner in Trump?s Decision to Fire Bharara Might Be Murdoch

Trump’s decision to fire Bharara ignited speculation that it was designed to blunt investigations like the Fox News probe. In November, Trump had promised Bharara he could remain in the job. But on Friday, he reversed course and requested Bharara’s resignation along with 45 other Obama-appointed U.S. attorneys. (Adding to the intrigue, Trump’s prosecutor purge came less than 24 hours after Sean Hannity said on Fox News that Trump should “purge” the Justice Department of Obama-appointed officials.)

Given that Fox News is Murdoch’s most profitable division, the prospect of indictments is a serious problem. “They’re really worried,” one source close to the network said. Another insider said that Fox News executives considered the investigation “political” because Bharara had been appointed by Barack Obama. Which is why, for Murdoch, it must be a relief that Bharara’s replacement could be an ally. According to the Times, Trump’s short list to replace Bharara includes Marc Mukasey — who just happens to be former Fox News chief Roger Ailes’s personal lawyer.

Drain the swamp indeed!!!!!

Say anything. Believe anything. What a crock. If that's true, do you think he's irreplaceable? If he was in the middle of preparing cases, a dozen maybe, you think everybody just walks?

Unbelievable.

I certainly do think some folks are a lot braver than others.... a lot bolder than others.... and a whole lot more politically daring than others. And this seems to be one outhouse times where a man like Bharara might make a real difference.

And that is what Trump and FOX are afraid of.

When other presidents did the exact same thing, were you afraid then?

It depends on if and what they were trying to cover up at the time. Do you have deny evidence on that front?

I am NOT denying that Trump did what he did. Other presidents exercised that option also. I am only offering a reason why he did it now and especially after previously conferring with Bharara and giving him the okay to stay on and continue the work.

That is what reeks to high heaven here.

What reeks to high heaven here is the lef's attempt to destroy the White House because they put up an awful candidate for all the wrong reasons and lost the election.

You say that like its a bad thing.

No President has done the 'exact same thing'. Most have had the AGs resign in a slower fashion, to minimize disruption....and Trump has done this without lining up replacements.

He's also very far behind in other nominations for confirmation in many other areas.

It sounds like incompetence to me.

You say that like its a bad thing.

The trump/Bannon White House doesn't need any help destroying itself.

trump's daily ritual of lies, baseless charges, incompetence, conflicts of interest and problems with the law speaks for itself .

Wow. Already two deflections to HRC from the Trump Cult on the very first page of the thread!
What's the over-under on the eventual total?
