Oprah Is Thinking Maybe She *Could* Run For President

Oprah Winfrey never thought someone from a show business background with no political experience could rise to the office of POTUS, but here we are. And shes apparently not ruling out a run of her own.

The media queen sat down for an interview on the Season 2 premiere of The David Rubenstein Show: Peer-to-Peer Conversations on Bloomberg Television, and revealed shed maybe consider running for president. Rubenstein wondered if Oprah could be the one to break the glass ceiling and be elected the first female president of the United States.

The 63-year-old mogul replied, I never considered the question even a possibility. I just thought, Oh. I thought, Oh, gee, I dont have the experience. I dont know enough. And now Im thinking, Oh.

In January, Oprah brushed off the idea, telling Jimmy Kimmel, Never! No, its not my thing. But her mind might be changing.

She would seemingly have Michael Moores vote. The director said the Democrats need to run a beloved candidate. Democrats would be better off if they ran Oprah or Tom Hanks, Moore told CNN after Hillary Clintons loss in November. Why dont we run beloved people? We have so many of them. The Republicans do this they run Reagan and the Terminator and other people. Why dont we run somebody that the American people love and are really drawn to, and that are smart and have good politics and all that?

Now that would be an election chalk full of narratives.
 
I'd definitely consider her... especially now that no one considers a background in public service a prerequisite for the job.

We might as well have a proper businessperson running the show... someone who hasn't left a string of failures and stiffed contractors behind her, as our current president has. Someone that is wholly responsible for creating her own wealth, without the benefit of family connections or wealth (a la Trump).
 
I do not know what Oprah's political leanings are, She like Trump may be a real unknown.
It would be kind of a shame to limit the presidency to only Billionaires!

So do I

She is by definition self made, has been very popular, knows the media and what a significant portion of the population seems to want. She grew up poor so understands the hardships of being poor and what it takes to get to the top. She has suffered from sexual abuse when young, so should have an understanding of that as well

Know what bothers me about Oprah? She has donated sooo much money to foreign countries for education, third world countries, but Oprah - with her powerful voice - doesn't seem to be vocal in educating poor blacks in our inner cities. Just think of the difference she could make if she lent her voice to change. One could say THOSE are somewhat like third world countries themselves.

Holy Crap, I hope this is not for real.... Seriously bankrupt? This would be a little disappointing to see.

I hope its like a trump bankruptcy, She going to close an entity while here personal holdings or other investments are good, but from the sound of it, she is dead broke....yikes...... BAD business decisions if true, thats a negative in my book for candidacy..... You know who would be better LOL

Ah, you could have gone with the January story where she died too then.

Bankrupt on 6th January, dead 10 days later and then a multibillionaire by 17th February.

Even Lazarus couldn't achieve that feat...
 
Trump's win was a paradigm shift. So Oprah running is no longer ridiculous. While I likely wouldn't vote for her I think she could win.

Absolutely amazing. Without any clue whatsoever as to what kind of policies she might make or any political issues being explained. People are already considering voting for her.

Can someone please explain to me what actually is the purpose of a president because it is looking like it just nothing more than a popularity contest.
