I'm concerned about what the party leadership is doing with the chaotic townhalls. Instead of complaining about the non-proven paid protesters. They should have a better control over this situation. Does Trump, Bannon, Priebus care at all? This is happening at Republican Townhalls so ultimately the buck rests with them, and they are the ones who have to address it. Showing up at conventions in DC is not the answer.

For the record I think that there is a few paid protesters going to these things, with a mixture of very savvy organizers on both the left and the right as well as disgruntled alt-right people who would not compromise with any of their high ideals, even if a gun was put to their head and a newly energized liberal base as well.

What are your thoughts on solutions to this problem? Politicians ultimately have to deal with all of the people in their district not just Republicans and Democrats. So if Democrats want to go to Republican Townhalls, politicians will have to deal with them, no matter the reason for them being there.

The solution is for them to go to their town halls and speak to their constituents instead of whining about made up paid protesters. Honestly, if they just stand there and take the heat it would look better than the video clips you can find of them sneaking out of the back of the building or lying about being in Europe.

I saw yesterday I think some of Tom Cotton's town hall. One of the people started out by saying she was not a paid protester, and Cotton responded that he did not care if she was. She was a resident of Arkansas, she had an opinion, his job was to hear it. Paid or otherwise, he wanted to know the concerns of the citizens of Arkansas. Totally defused alot of the tension in the hall. It was loud at times, but every one could be heard. Much respect to Cotton, who showed real integrity.

Rubio needs to do some damage control here. He has to hold an open forum immediately, if he wants his political career to continue. The funny thing is there are all these protests yet the people still elected mostly the same Republicans across the country.

It's going to be a fight of wits. Who will outlast the protesters will determine the future of the party. Cotton has a good chance of surviving.

I thought these town halls were America First town halls, when they were hosted by Democrats 8 years ago!

How about Louie Gohmert hiding behind Gabby Gifford's skirt, cowardly claiming safety?

Who says these town halls are a problem?

trump's brain has already stated that these are "professional protesters" and bitter DEMs--they should go with that .

The Rubio thing is really funny. I agree he needs to have a town hall immediately. Getting yelled at isn't as bad as looking like a lying coward. Republicans are really good at winning elections. There is definitely a lot of outrage on the left, and some in the middle, but I bet they still get reelected.

Rubio just got reelected by 700,000 votes in a POTUS year that should have favored DEM candidates. He has nothing to fear since his next election in 2022 is a mid-term year in which DEMs haven't fixed that systemic problem yet. As for Rubio's voters, I hope they're the first to lose their ACA .

Rubio was never good at getting yelled at. He gets flustered and riled up way too easily, and then he just rambles on and on and on with little substance, but that's still better than running away and lying about it.

Yeah it was like when Rubio jumped in every DEM challenger cowered away in fear. WTF?

It was very revealing during the primaries when he just repeated his lines over and over again. I see why some people view him as the future of the party, but he is just so bad when he hasn't rehearsed what to say a hundred times.

Cotton is up for reelection in 2020, after one full term of trump. Former Sen. Pryor ran a pathetic campaign against Cotton, refusing to acknowledge he voted for Obama. Cotton penned the Iran letter stabbing Obama in the back overseas. Iran's strongest supporter is Russia .

Yeah it was like when Rubio jumped in every DEM challenger cowered away in fear. WTF?

When the DNC pulled out of Florida for candidate Murphy, they inadvertently threw the state to trump, who won by only 100,000, compared to Rubio's 700,000---Rubio clearly had the reverse coattails and this occurred in NC, OH, WI, IA and PA also .

The solution is to speak quietly, and if one gets shouted down, to leave. I sure wouldn't stay.

I was looking forward for an opportunity to dialogue here tonight. I see many of you have other plans. While I respect your right to demonstrate and protest? I'd rather be at my office taking phone calls and listening to constructive feedback. If anyone would like to have a discussion, please call my office. I would be delighted to talk with you."

I hope GOPs take your advice and have telephone town halls, like Sen. Heller.

I won't bore you much with GOPoliticians like Sen. Heller of NV who is one of the most endangered senators up in 2018 .

Maggie, I may be used to Chris Christie who is a master at putting down protesters here in NJ, but if one of my state or more local politicians ran away due to booing, I'd call them a coward and a hypocrite and I have.

As much as I dislike Trump, he doesn't take that crap either.

I would say it is better than saying anything that crosses one's mind (i.e. Trump).

My thoughts: Fugem. If they can't take the heat, get the **** out of the kitchen! Cowards!

Here's Politico's take on the paid protester claims (there's little evidence in their instance):

Politicp: Town Hall Takeaways

"POLITICO interviewed dozens of attendees and found just one who had traveled from outside her home district to join protests. The woman, Linda Sullivan of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, said she wanted to protest her congressman, Rep. Scott DesJarlais, but that he hadn’t held any recent town hall meetings. So she drove to the neighboring district of Rep. Marsha Blackburn instead.

There were no signs of any outsiders being bused in and no evidence of any paid protesters.

Republicans making those claims have pointed to the work of the new liberal activist group Indivisible, which has been organizing to put Republicans on the defensive at town halls. But activists affiliated with the organization generally hailed from the district where they were organizing."

I think that these guys need to stop putting up with the harassment, that they should spend only 25-40% of the time answering stupid insulting "questions", they should then use most of the rest of the time trying to promote political literacy.....giving lessons on values, process and civility.

Oh they were supposed to pay for buses too?

Who knows how many people were paid to be there, if any, going around asking folks if they got paid will not net an answer. Nor will asking them where they live. Just how dumb are we supposed to be?

This is tabloid journalism at best.

"There is no evidence" only works after someone who knows what they are doing has gone looking for some.

How is this a leadership problem on the GOP side?

Do we pick and choose who are let into a town hall meeting?

There is nothing wrong with expressing a opposing view as long as the person remains civil, but that is not what is happening. It is organized chaos.

Ya'know, the very same thing was goin on with town hall meetings over Obamacare: right-wingers were showin up and packin meetings so sympathetic and interested people couldn't get in. It happened in my town, I couldn't get in one and the tea partiers had their signs showin Obama with a Hitler mustache and they were generally disrupting the meetings and shutting them down. So - please; alright?

The funny thing that YOU should be concerned about rather then listening to Sean Hannity's fake news. (ya' like that? Sean Hannity - fake news) - (cough) - is that a lot of those people pitchin fits at these town hall meetings are Republicans and conservatives!

Yeah, the movement against Trump and the right is getting bigger and bigger by the day, and soon it's gonna be a runaway freight train.

The country's gettin goin now.

Another person who thinks it's the White House responsibility to handle local politician town halls. This has nothing to do with Trump.

When in congress, you have a pretty cushy job with high pay and a lot of benefits. Snowflakes who can't put up with a little heat from the opposition should call it quits.

What are your thoughts on solutions to this problem?

Deliver on the promise to develop a replacement plan that's better and cheaper for everyone, and defend it to constituents at the town halls. Or stop lying about intent to repeal the ACA. Those are the only ways out of their predicament.

But right now, these GOPers don't even know what the party line is--because there isn't one!
