Who is the liberal equivalent of folk like Ann Coulter and Milo Yiannopoulos?

Conservatives have people who make their living saying things with the explicit intended purpose of triggering outrage in liberals. They say as many outlandish, demeaning, and insulting things as possible to get attention and annoy the liberal base. They sensationalize anecdotal events to create the impression of bigger problems in society and use that impression to harp on liberal's sacred territory.

What is the liberal equivalent?

The liberal equivalent would be comedians. However, unlike hatemongers like Coulter and Milo, liberal comedians tend to actually be funny.;)

There are hundreds if you want to start naming notable Hollywood celebrities, some CBS, NBC, ABC, MSN and CNN "news" staff" but here are a just few honorable mentions:

Ashley Judd
Maxine Waters
Van Jones
Michael Moore
Jon Stewart
Stephen Colbert
Chris Matthew
Rachael Maddow
Keith Ellison
Leslie Jones
Donna Brazil
Sally Boynton Brown

Who on that list makes a living solely from being a provocative douche? Moore would seem closest but he makes movies too.

I can understand why some would think Moore is similar to Milo or Coulter (and I don't agree) but how do you put Maher on the list. He let Milo on his show and he let milo talk. That's literally the opposite of the fear and hate the right promotes.

Milo and Bill are practically mirror images of each other. The 2 issues that Milo catches the most heat for are views that Bill shares with him. They are both against political correctness and Islam. They differ on most issues (religion in particular) but share the same vulgar and condescending style mixed with humor.

What I find ironic is that the young homosexual guy is on the right and the old white guy is on the left. Who would have seen that coming 20 years ago?

I'm more curious if the left has someone like Ben Shapiro, I would love to see some good debates on the issues.

There simply is no equivalent. The conservative brain responds to fear and anger hence they are constantly told to be afraid and angry.
Just so you know, the liberal/democrat brain responds to facts and doesn't need to flail at reality. Its why we can post clear and straightforward posts in response to conservatives.
If only that were true. How many idiots have we elected because people fear that abortion will be declared illegal, discrimination due to race will run rampant, people will be dying in the streets due to lack of medical care or food, and, perhaps, we might re-institute slavery.

I wonder if anyone will respond to the quote found in Vern's post #18

"conservatism is essentially a set of neuroses rooted in "fear and aggression, dogmatism and the intolerance of ambiguity" They are characteristics of many who label themselves "Conservative" and even some who call themselves "Libertarian" in this forum. Although I do wonder about "intolerance of ambiguity" as for many here, it seems to be based more in sheer ignorance of just how complex so many problems are in today's world.

A 'slight' rephrasing from the other side: How many idiots have we elected because people fear that abortion will be readily available, discrimination due to race and gender will not be allowed, cutting taxes is more important than people dying in the streets due to lack of medical care or food, and, perhaps, we might re-institute slavery - also known as harsh sentencing for non-violent actions.

Actual liberals don't really have representation in government, as the country has always been far and away right of center, so there are few liberal pundits and they're confined to late night premium channels, like maher might be a candidate. But there's far more right wing nutjobs in major media

Ann Coulter finished first in her class at a top law school. She incites liberals and writes long books about the the evils of liberalism. Liberalism is based in pure ignorance so cant have an equivalent. If it was possible of course we could name the liberal thinkers.

Only in your imagination. And if there is one thing I've learned, if a conservative (or conservative like poster) wants to believe something, magic presto, its a fact. Again, you and yours respond to fear, hate and anger and your conservative masters know it.

Most humans respond to fear, hate, and anger. It is why both sides engage in fear mongering. Are you really that blind to reality that you believe only one side engages in it?

Oh geez there are so many. Al Sharpton, Maureen Dowd (who I adore), Keith Olbermann, Ed Schultz, David Brock, Bill Maher, Rosie O'Donnell, Michael Moore . . . That's off the top of my head. I'm sure I could come up with others if I thought about it.

Sorry, I don't see it. Please give me some examples that come close to these lies from the right that large percentage of conservatives believe/believed.

President Obama was born in kenya
he's a secret muslim terrorist
he wants to kill old people
the vile and disgusting stand down lies

thanks in advance. And remember, being whipped into a heightened state of fear and hate is why conservatives supported republicans obstructing things to help the economy and average Americans.

Thats not what Milo and Coulter do, they are Professional Word Driven Provocateurs, just like Maher and Moore
