Trump is attempting to divert the spotlight from the chaos ensuing in his administration to the leaks exposing that chaos. His supporters who have a shred of decency left are arguing that if intelligence officials have something important to reveal, then they should go through normal channels so that a proper investigation can be conducted. However, everyone should be completely clear that, going by present day political pressure, those with the power to instigate such investigations have made it abundantly clear that no such investigations will take place.

When it comes to investigating Trump, Chaffetz has said he will investigate intelligence leaks, which ultimately made the White House look bad. But he appears to have no plans to investigate the revelation that members of the Trump’s administration — and inner circle — possibly had close ties Russian government officials.

Chaffetz has formally admonished Kellyanne Conway for advertising Ivanka Trump’s clothing line, but has declined to investigate Trump’s numerous conflicts of interest. He did, however, once threaten to investigate the chair of the Office of Government Ethics, Walter Shaub, for questioning Trump’s commitment to ethics laws.

The Oversight Committee’s most recent request seems like protocol; investigating the handling of confidential information is an expected response to instances of intelligence leaks. And Trump has made clear that he expects some kind of consequence for the publication of classified material in the press.

And Paul Ryan had this to say:

Senator Rand Paul even went so far as to suggest that it would be excessive for Republicans to closely scrutinize the actions of a member of their own party. “I just don’t think it’s useful to be doing investigation after investigation, particularly of your own party,” the Kentucky senator said in an interview, according to CNN’s KFILE. “We’ll never even get started with doing the things we need to do, like repealing Obamacare, if we’re spending our whole time having Republicans investigate Republicans. I think it makes no sense.”

Therefore, until such time as a responsible and principled Congress retakes control of both houses, leaks will be the order of the day.

Much ado about nothing.

As on this message board, most of the supporters of Lunatic and Traitor Trump are so partisan, it overrides any sense of logic, decency, or patriotism.
Meanwhile, Spies withhold their info to protect the National interest.. and their lives.

Two Moles, Flynn and Manafort, are gone (Putin mildly miffed/sabre rattling), but the Big one is Still in the White House... where Putin, in cahoots with his campaign, put him.
And the GOP doesn't want any more evidence/proof coming out that invalidates (or overturns) their 'mandate'.

Board please take note of those higher IQ, decent, and sober, GOPers who are being fairly silent in these strings, and Not Knee-jerk defending our Huckster, con-man, Traitor President.

In the House, Chaffetz has time to look into leaks but chooses not to look into constant contact with Russia. Amazing!

That has not been proven.

Only a rudimentary application of common sense is needed to realize this Russian
connection is all FAKE NEWS & yet the MSM is trying to 'erect a cathedral' around
that being possibly true. Apparently reading some of the posters here they believe
in this utter nonsense.

Chaffetz has no credibility and probably even less character. This is the same guy who said that after the Access Hollywood scandal, he couldn't look his 12 year old daughter in the eye and tell her he supported Trump. Seems like "Dad" had a 180 degree change of heart when Trump started gaining momentum near the end of the campaign. He is EXACTLY what is wrong with Washington.

Caught in a speech Trump made at his news conference, "We have totalk about it, to find out what's going on because the president honestly is out of control..." In Trump's own words.

Like any would-be dictator, Trump is attempting to say that "Only I can fix America." Donald Jr. sometime ago said his dad's business is heavily involved with the Russians.
But Trump Sr. is denying he has done no business with the Russians and "knows nothing about the Russians." Now who will believe what he says? Who will you believe: Donald Sr. or Donald Jr.?

Your source sucks. Vox? Come one.
Vox is an American news and opinion website owned by Vox Media. The website was founded in 2014 by Ezra Klein. Vox is noted for its concept of "explanatory journalism" and its use of "card stacks" that define terms and provide context within an article. It has been described as having a liberal or progressive editorial perspective.

For someone that incessantly whines about sources you sure pick some crap to use for sources. Then you throw The Atlantic in there for giggles. Really?

About the issue, what are they going to base an investigation on, the fake news about the Russian hookers pissing on a bed?

NBD, what a lazy but typical conservative rebuttal. Liberal is not the equal but opposite of conservative. Your "sources" routinely lie to you. Its why you and yours thought President Obama was born in Kenya, wanted to kill old people, the stimulus would hyperinflation, dollar collapse, market to zero and the vile and disgusting stand down lies. The trick to "dismissing" sources is to show what they're saying is not true. I know you see a lot of conservative (and conservative like posters) whine about "librul" sources but its not a good debate tactic. its great for chat rooms but not debate forums.

tldr. I don't read your nonsense.

and of course your posts get lazier. Your posts are perfectly okay for a chatroom but "wah wah librul source" and "wah wah tldr" have no place in this forum. Why do you feel an emotional need to respond when you have nothing to say?

seriously, why are you at a debate forum if you're incapable of an honest and intelligent discussion?

Obama said he was going to heal the planet. Was he a wouldbe dictator?

The frightening thing is that we get to endure 4 more years of whining about the failure to win the election.

The frightening thing is that we get to endure 4 more years of whining about the failure to win the election.

Why would 'so-called' alt/hard rightist conservative/libertarian be frightened by a Democratic Party that has been completely marginalized after the last 4 elections since 2010?

Though I will remind myself that DEMs flipped the nation between 2005 and 2009 under DNC chief H. Dean in just 2 terms .

ah yes, trotting out the ol' 'fake news'....suppose you have some 'alternative' facts?

Every time 'they' use fake, alternative or so-called, just use those alt/hard rightist conservative terms right back at the GOPoliticians and their blind partisans in response to what 'they' have said .
