Dear Americans,
Trump supporters love to trumpet a Breitbart statistic that Obama lost over 900 legislative seats since 2009. What they don't mention is that after the midterm elections of 2010, there was massive redistricting across the country, and verifiable gerrymandering. So what Trump supporters are often really saying when they quote this statistic is they favor a system where the politicians choose the voters and not the other way around.
The Trump supporters often love to talk about "messages" but what is theirs? "We are going to bring jobs back to America." That is it. They believe that America is no longer "great" because low skill with high wage labor has been disappearing. That is why they parrot how Trump is keeping jobs here, how he is kicking out the illegals who are taking American jobs and siphoning the system, and how he is going to "punish" companies that take business overseas. They are under a shared delusion that those jobs are going to exist. They are ignorant of the realities of automation, of the labor disparities in developing nations, and how poorly America has invested in the right kinds of education to make competitive products for this century. They are literally trying to apply 20th century principles to the 21st century and wondering why they are "ignored". Well they have been heard now and got their way and now they have to contest with reality. Their leader can fabricate a narrative that he is doing something when he really isn't. His supporters truly believe he "saved" 70,000 coal mine jobs by repealing an Obama clean water ordinance, but it is enoufh to comfirm very few jobs were at risk and others would have been created.
This is where we will win. Trump supporters have their message. We have REALITY. We have what is observable and verifiable FACT. We have the TRUTH. Let them have their "message" that requires lies, misinformation, and ignorance to be perpetuated. Reality will sort them out.
With love and respect,
Your Fellow Countryman
