Where do you guys stand on deposits for recyclables? I'm for them. They help keep the sidewalks clean and help the homeless feed themselves.

So what you're saying is...I should litter every chance I get, so that bums clean up after me, and then now they have a quarter to feed themselves?

Got it.

Why, I was standing on some recyclable deposits from my horses just a couple of hours ago.

They give kids a chance to experience a little entrepreneurship, by earning some pocket change.

I grew up in NY and now live in PA and I miss having returnables. It doesn't feel right throwing our bottles and cans in the recycle bin.

Really need a deposit of everything to make it work.

We have had a "bottle bill" in Oregon since I was a kid. It still doesn't stop other types of litter.

Drive through a state with a Bottle Bill vs. one without one and see which has the cleaner roadsides.

You're right.. and who's going to pay a deposit on box of cereal?

The same attitude of the people and state that passed bottle bills also do other things to keep their state clean. Don't give all the credit to a bottle bill.

I also think we should fine people who litter the streets. Especially smokers who toss their cigarettes on the road/sidewalk/rails. Carry a portable ashtray you crap coated entitled tar smoking idiot.

We get our milk in glass quart bottles and we get $1 per bottle when we bring them back. I know it's money we already deposited but when we bring back enough bottles it feels like a little pay day at the grocery store!
