Secret Service agent wrote she wouldn't take a bullet for Trump

If she had been honest she would have resigned.

To be fair Secret Service Agents protect more than just the POTUS. They also protect past POTUS's, the POTUS's children, wife, set up logistics for the arrival and departure of a POTUS and probably a number of other things which don't require a person actively placing themselves in front of a bullet and the POTUS. So maybe she just wishes to be in a different section of the SS. Nothing wrong with that.

That said, the way she handled it was wrong. She should be fired.

I agree. At the same time I would venture to say that these are not normal times. Secret Service is not a normal job. This President is the most divisive in modern times. There will be/are those who might favor her actions. You would think she already had a job lined up or she decided to get our of security protection altogether. I doubt she wants to work in mall security.

The most divisive in modern times? Shirley you jest.

How did a 46 year old woman think it was OK to publicly talk about her job at the SECRET SERVICE?

I can see a younger agent that grew up sharing every thought in their empty head with the world, but this woman is old enough to know better.

I guess they are not the elite of the elite anymore.

This is what blows me away--she wasn't a kid. And she wasn't an "ordinary" agent either; she was the agent in charge and "responsible for the Secret Service’s investigative, intelligence and protective missions throughout Colorado, Utah, Wyoming and Idaho; a geography equal to 1/9th of the United States."https://www.eventbrite.com/e/trailblazers-women-blazing-a-trail-of-success-in-non-traditional-fields-tickets-22133221060#

From the Washington Examiner:

Secret Service employees are among those federal employees subject to enhanced Hatch Act restrictions, including these two rules:

•May not post a comment to a blog or a social media site that advocates for or against a partisan political party, candidate for partisan political office, or partisan political group.
•May not use any email account or social media to distribute, send or forward content that advocates for or against a partisan political party, candidate for partisan political office, or partisan political group. Senior Secret Service agent suggests she wouldn't take 'a bullet' for Trump | Washington Examiner

Also according to the Washington Examiner, Homeland Security's Office of the Inspector General received a complaint about the FB posts on October 11th. It begins to dawn on me that O'Grady may have been so confident of a Clinton win and that she'd be perceived as a hero that she rolled the dice, declaring that the "Hatch Act be damned"...and lost.

Tough noogies.

No, she has proved herself incapable and should be fired.
Well, incapable at her current SS job, but their may be other spots that could reasonably accommodate her (if she would've requested). She might otherwise be a good agent, and the Service has invested a lot of time & effort in her.

Did you read note bene's post above?

Aside from demonstrating her inability to do her job, she also violated the department rules.

I've never been one to advocate searching for a place a miscreant will fit in. Particularly in cases such as this. SS job is to protect the President and other high level officials. She should be fired.

I believe you might have missed or misunderstood the earlier discussion between Washnut & myself:

If she had been honest she would have resigned.

And my reply:

Exactly.

She should have asked for a reassignment.
We're speaking of handling the problem prior to her Face Book event, when she first realized she was having conscientious objection.

Now that she reacted like she did, yeah she needs to be fired. She should've handled it the similar to the way I soon then posted:

Agreed.

Actually - if she thought her personal feelings could even possibly interfere with the performance of her duties, it was her obligation to bring them to her superior for assessment and/or possibly reassignment.

Totally unprofessional (and stupid!) on her part.

While we as citizens need to criticize and question our government, there seems to be a trend for those in more highly responsible government positions to not take their positions with the seriousness and respect it deserves.

For instance:

Drunken Secret Service sleeping with Colombian hookers while on assignment. What?? Where's the dignity and respect for one's position there? Absolutely ridiculous!
Are we now on the same page?

You're correct. I came in late on the conversation.

Dude, the stories I could tell about Secret Service parties overseas from my embassy days would blow your mind. That Columbia thing is nothing. Secret Service, FBI, CIA, and every other agency people hold in high esteem are filled with the same horny dope fiends that fill rest of society. A lot of them just don't feel they can act out on it until they are away from the Flag pole, and their wives.

"...Secret Service, FBI, CIA, and every other agency people hold in high esteem are filled with the same horny dope fiend..."

I can attest to that. I came across a number of consular officials with ambiguous titles during Expo 86. I will never forget one guy. He looked and spoke like Joe Friday on Dragnet and ran on some serious uppers, his irises were huge moons in his eye. Believe it or not his name was Joe Gannon and had the title of media relations attache' to the US Pavilion. A colleague and I stumbled on he and two other dudes with thingies in their ears in a hotel room bathroom blowing lines of pure Columbian. I found out later Vice President Bush was at a private function in the suite above.
