Sean Spicer Loses It before Press Corps

I just saw on TV something that left me stunned realizing that his new Trump administration has the sensitivity of a eight year old girl who feels she did not get enough Valentines at the school party and decides to publicly sob about it on the bus on the way home.

The old joke that SIZE MATTERS has obsessed the Trump administration since last night when they became upset about report that the crowd size of their own inauguration yesterday was smaller than the Obama inaugurations - especially that of 2009. (remember the "Small hands:" nonsense during the debates and the bragging from Trump about his own man package?)

Spicer obviously had been ordered backstage by his bosses and told to load the shotgun and march out there and start firing making accusations to the press.

He said they had engaged in "DELIBERATELY FALSE REPORTING". His evidence was the New York Times photographs of the two events which clearly and unmistakably show larger crowds for 2009 compared to yesterday for Trump. Anybody not blind can see that - and I refer to both physically blindness and the type brought on by partisan ideology which is perhaps worse.

This comes hours after the TV networks have shown the nation over a million people around the nation protesting today against Trump with major crowds in DC, Chicago, NY City, Boston and many other places. It seems their feelings are hurt and now they want to pee in the punch bowl to show how angry they are.

This is going to a very very very long four years if Trump and his spokespersons act like whining little children when they feel that the press is not genuflecting deeply enough.

And the sensitivity behind it should scare every American for what it says about Trump.

This clown is going to make the Nixon/Agnew treatment of the press look like childs play in comparison.

God help us as this is on the first full day of this crap storm.
Not to mention that Spicer claimed they had never used ground covering ever before on the grass. That's a lie. They used it in 2013.

People that want to defend what Trump and Spicer just did are disgusting. Blatant lying on day 1 from the Whitehouse. Dishonest garbage.

That issue was long settled with an apology from the reporter publicly admitting his error and it was ACCEPTED. Dead issue.
Itsnot settled until Trump decides it is. Just because the press wants to move pn from their embarassing behavior does not obligate Trump to do so. He wanted another word on it and he took it. You and the media should get use to the fact that the media is not in charge and tjey are subject to being fact checked too.

Meh. I know I wasn't there, and I doubt you were either. I also know that photographs of those types of scenes can be deceptive.
The greater point also being why cover something as pedestrian as crowd size when the more important issue at hand is the delay of the confirmation of Director CIA, which could very well be a national security issue, which is important.
I had the same question. What was the intent of this story?

You post reminds me of that old Grocho Marx line.... "are you going to believe me or your lying eyes?"

That's the problem, or not depending on your perspective, is his next tweet! LOL! The suspense is killing me. The guy is truly a 10 year old worried about the size of a crowd. We (not me of course) elected a 10 year old. How funny is that?
Is the press a bunch of 10 years old too since they felt it was important enough to make it a story?

The apology was accepted before this presser ever convened.

Spicer is really awful as a press secretary. So far all he has done is attack. Didn't even apologize for keeping the press waiting for over an hour and no mention of the women's march all over the globe.
For the left, yes he is going to be awful.

Did you watch the inauguration pre-shows, the inauguration itself, and the post-shows? You should get use to Trump lying when lying isn't even necessary.

What little is left of free press, it's the only thing we've got to keep any of our rockstar politicians from lying from the minute they wake up until they go to bed.

I personally watched the pre-shows, inauguration, and post shows and I know what my eyes saw. Trump is a ****ing thin-skinned narcissistic crybaby.

You know what's funnier? The democrats put up a candidate that couldn't beat that "ten year old."

Edit to add... Are all the media people who first reported on the crowd size, are they also ten year olds?

I would rather the media comment on crowd sizes, as if it matters, than the POTUS. That's just me though.

If he speaks intelligently about issues I may disagree with him, but I won't criticize his presentation. So far he has been on the attack and offered nothing substantial but attacking the press and disputing crowds at the inauguration.

If he can yell loud enough and long enough about what the 'enemies' are trying to do to him he can assure that his supporters will dig in their heels and not believe anything they are told by the press or loved ones.
Anyone waffling on the fence may jump off to his side.

Far as I am concerned he blew a chance big time by making his CIA visit about himself.

And of course this crowd size argument is about nothing but distracting from things that are really going on like the marches.
Look for many poor little me and his supporters distractions.

First, you spelled eight wrong.

Please forgive me if I don't believe a ****ing word of your whole post. Video or a link it didn't happen.

So what

An earlier poster claimed that was the issue. It was NOT. The fact is the so called issue was dead before the presser ever started.

You got me..... Spicer never had a press briefing.... there were no photographs in the Times .... the Obama crowds were not larger .......... there were no marches of millions of people today protesting Trump.

I made it all up. :doh:roll::shock:

Poor pathetic pissant press didn't get an apology for waiting for more than a whole hour. Cry me a ****ing river. They whine every time someone defends themselves. How many times have they apologized to Trump or Spicer for getting the story wrong or flat out lying in a story? ****em. Once? Big deal. When the press becomes the story.

Why did Spicer bring up that very issue, if it was dead?

I heard his speech on the radio but did not watch any of it. What did trump lie about? Why should i trust a media that has been caught in multiple lies?

No link? I don't accept an opinion as fact. You have been known to make **** up.

Why did Spicer bring up that very issue, if it was dead?

Because he is a petty sycophant toady carrying somebody else waste water to his great humiliation.

btw - the just announced that the number of Metro riders in DC today is larger than yesterday. So much for Spicers use of that little bit of so called evidence. :lamo:mrgreen:

I confessed in post 40. Why are you still befuddled about it?:doh

I probably didn't read post #40 as it was after your original OP. Usually #1 is after #40. You also included a bunch of other garbage in your post. I addressed it. I will google it.

Geżzzz, you know what he lied about. He's butt hurt because he had a significantly less number of people who attended his inauguration. You have been extremely clear in a variety of threads about your mistrust for any form of authority and now I assume that you're adding that all media outlets to the perpetual liars list, especially in this matter. You've already been informed that Spicer has stated he misspoke and apologized. Your reply was, "So What?"

There's going to be evidence to the contrary popping up for the next few days and I'm sure that you'll deem such as lies contrived by the media.

Obviously you're a Trump support who will never believe that he has quite the capacity to lie. But it's expected.

He can't stand it that his inauguration simply drew an average sized crowd for a presidential inauguration, so he sends his own little Bagdad Bob out to spin it. Being we elected a narcissist and textbook pathological liar, we may as well get used to it.

Big crowds in 2008 have done wonders for whats left of the Democratic party, amiright ??

Over a 1000 seats, 12 Governorhips, the House and the Senate and now the Presidency.

But hey, Obama's crowd was bigger....

There could be, or there could not be. From just a picture posted on the Internet, I'd content that it's hard to tell.
Trump's crowd was significantly smaller than Obama's 2009 crowd. Trump and Spicer lied through their damned teeth, and you can't even be bothered to get basic, easily checkable facts right.

There were more people on the Mall for today's Women's March than the inauguration. From a nationally available live feed:

You can see for yourself on the Earthcam's archives:

DC's Metro system reported lower ridership for Trump's inauguration than for Obama's and the Women's March:

Lastly, statement of fact: No official numbers have been released as to attendance.
Parks Service stopped estimating numbers in 1996. Mostly because of this type of "there's more people than you said!" bull****.

The greater point also being why cover something as pedestrian as crowd size when the more important issue at hand is the delay of the confirmation of Director CIA, which could very well be a national security issue, which is important.
Or, instead of throwing out red herrings, you can recognize that Trump lied, Spicer lied, and you are defending their bald-face lies. Which is really, really sad.
