The final question asked of Trump was would he categorically deny that anyone connected with this campaign either in the primaries or in the general election had anything to do with the Russians and their hacks.

Forget about the stupid golden showers nonsense folks. There is you potential smoking gun.

Why did he not answer that most important of questions?

If it can be shown - and was alleged in the recent report given to Trump and Obama - that people in his campaign colluded with the Russians on the wikileaks releases - that is the most damaging bit of information that is far far far worse than ***** grabbing or water sports.

Why did Trump not clearly answer this question definitively with a firm simple answer to put this to rest?

Even though I didn't see the meeting, if I were Trump I'd give a fishy answer too just because I'd know that the MSM would not stop talking about such an answer. Trump plays the MSM like a fiddle.

Remember when he had his "BIG ANNOUNCEMENT" about the birth certificate nonsense? It involved nearly 2 hours of veterans giving him an endorsement and then Trump was on the podium for less than 5 minutes. Many 24 hr networks aired the entire scene and Trump pretty much got a 2 hour commercial. It was brilliant.

Trump did not give your fishy answer. Instead, Trump ran from it and failed to give any answer to that question.

Buzzed did Trump a huge favor. Trump can focus on the urine nonsense and disprove that and mock it and suddenly the whole report gets trashed because of that issue. The more important and greater issue is the collusion the report discusses between the Trump campaign and the Russians. And when directly asked bout that - Trump ran and hid from it.

Well, he can't say there's unequivocally not been contact, because it's possible there was.

He also danced around quite a bit on that issue and one or two more, and tried to conflate CNN's story with Buzzfeed's, which is B.S., and didn't do a blind trust.

He did help himself with a few things like claiming he could break-away from Putin if required, but still much of this smacked of the usual Trump hyperbole and smoke & mirrors.

As to his claiming he and Pence are exceptions to the rest of the government's conflict of interest clause, I wish Congress would simply close that loophole.

I agree with everything you wrote. While I want Congress to close that loophole I think Trump would have to be grandfathered in because the rule didn't exist when he submitted his paperwork to run.

Fair point in the bolded.

But it would probably be Constitution if legislated, unless the Court took it as harassment. <-- just my opinion

Well that narrows it down to just hundreds of people who might have had something - anything - to do with "the Russians."

Probably because he's full of crap.

Where the OP says he sees smoke, that's as sure as possible an indicator that there is no fire.

So now he's answering questions like a politician. He's acting...dare I say it...presidential, lol.

He wants to keep Putin waiting?

;)

How could he possibly know?

It's too late to close the loophole for this round probably.

So now you are admitting that the stupid Golden Showers stuff was nonsense?

Well that narrows it down to just hundreds of people who might have had something - anything - to do with "the Russians."

And that needs to be thoroughly investigated.

So now you are admitting that the stupid Golden Showers stuff was nonsense?

I doubt if we will ever know if it was outright fabrication or if there is some truth to it and I really do not care either way as the far far far more important question is the central issue of Trump campaign staff involvement in collusion with the Russians. That is what is important.Sadly, buzzed may have done Trump a great favor by putting this out there since now some are going to pretend that lack of evidence on the more sensational and sexy charge dooms anything else in that report.

How could he possibly know?

Exactly Maggie. The question covers hundreds, maybe thousands, of people. And campaign press officers would have quite properly spoken to Russian media as well as to the media from a hundred other countries.

Btw. In the UK 'hacks' is a word used all the time to describe journalists, in use long before 'hacking' existed. Is that the case in the States?

He didn't answer it because his supporters are primed to reject anything negative about him as a fabrication by some big mean liberal conspiracy.

When Hillary didn't answer a question, you also considered that "brilliant"?

If the Russians have anything on Trump. it'll come out. Nowadays stuff like that just can't be hidden forever.

Anyway I didn't watch his news conference. But my wife did, and I happened to walk into the living room while he was addressing Obamacare.

If he answered this issue further, I apologize beforehand. But like I said I didn't watch it, so I only saw the 5 mins or so that he addressed Obamacare. Anyway when he 1st addressed it he said NOTHING!!! He said we're going to repeal and replace it. But then gave no details. NONE. Just some nonsense about the replacement being cheaper with less deductions. Typical Trump BS, it'll be bigger and better. GREAT! But HOW??? Is he going to wave his Trump hands and lower costs? Is everyone in the medical field going to take a pay cut? The drug companies, medical equipment companies, etc. all of a sudden going to do business without making a profit?? HOW?????? v

I SCREAMED at the TV.. I want DETAILS. My wife threw me out of the living room.

How could he possibly know?

Why not say he didn't know but that if anyone did that, he would fire them and direct the FBI or other relevant agency to consider the possibility of charges?

(Why'd he initially dismiss the reports of Russian hacking outright and instead attack intelligence agencies?)

I'm not sure, but I suspect it has something to do with his obsession with showmanship.

As for how he could know. Well.... Obama just spent the last 8 years getting blamed for just about every mishap while he was in office, regardless of whether it was reasonable to expect the President to be personally involved in whatever it was that turned into a mishap. If that's the standard, then Trump gets to answer to it as well.

Ok, and the state department has something like 80,000 employees....yet somehow Obama and Clinton got blamed for the fact that requests for more security by the Benghazi consulate weren't granted prior to the attack (while, incidentally, Bush didn't get blamed for the same thing despite more attacks on consulates during his watch, but that's a story for another day).

If we're going to play "us vs. them" and one side establishes an unfair standard to attack the other side, then they better be ready for exactly the same sort of thing being pulled against them. Not that I like it, but that seems to be the way it is.
