Eight years later, as Obama prepares to depart the White House, he leaves the nation in a cloud of disappointment, recrimination, and even paranoia. None of the wars Obama inherited are truly over, and he has started or joined America to several more. If anything, the sense of America's decline is even more palpable than before.

For a sense of that decline, look at the pathetic tantrums that the Obama administration is throwing in its last days. After the White House received some criticism from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and others in the media for letting a non-binding resolution condemning Israeli settlements pass at the U.N., Secretary of State John Kerry let fly with a speech on Israel and its settlements at a bewildering length. He scolded Israel for having the "most right-wing [government] in Israeli history, with an agenda driven by the most extreme elements." It was petty and unnecessary. Letting the resolution pass said everything that the administration hoped to express. Nattering on just evidenced the impotent frustration of the administration, particularly since it will not ratchet down foreign aid or military aid to Israel..

The political promise is spent as well. Obama was hailed as a genius and political savior. Now his own Democratic Party has fallen to new lows in the state legislatures and governors' mansions across the country. Instead of handing on the executive branch to an ordained successor, he is passing it onto the man who questioned his birth certificate.

If you had left your country and party in such a state, you'd be acting like a petulant jerk, too.

The pathetic end of the Obama era

Yes Sirree, It's coffee time in America.

Truly pathetic. Obamacare was one of the worst programs ever implemented. Even a six-year old could figure out that the month didn't work out.

HOW HISTORY WILL JUDGE HIM Very positively, at first. He is a powerfully inspiring man, and in certain ways he has been objectively superior to the Bushes, Bill Clinton, Reagan, Carter, Nixon, and Johnson, all of whose administrations were enormously flawed. Over time, however, people will start to ask, What did Obama actually do?

At the rate we are going "At first" is going to last like a week, Trump is working to speed the process.

Yes he did ObamaCare.... very badly, when there were at least a half dozen things more important that did not get done.

AMERICA LOST

Yeah, Trump's victory is a definitely a pathetic end to what was a somewhat progressive and hopeful run.

Any day now Obama's supposed to declare himself President for Life....

You haven't worked out in a month?

Before the election, President Obama campaigned for Hillary Clinton by reciting the many achievements of his administration: economic recovery, rebuilt auto industry, 15 million new jobs, less foreign oil, cheap gas, more clean energy, fewer troops overseas, Osama bin Laden dead, agreements on climate change and Iran’s nukes, higher incomes, less poverty, same-sex marriage legalized, millions more insured. “Thanks, Obama!” he said, appropriating the meme his critics used ironically.

But Americans thought the country was on the wrong track, and voters demanded change. They rejected Obama’s handpicked successor in favor of the man who led the campaign challenging Obama’s legitimacy as a natural-born American.

Since the election, Obama has continued, in statements and in a year-end news conference, to recite his achievements.

Of course he does, because it has to be all about him, how great he is, and if reality gets in the way, then it is reality that gets tossed over-board. If it is our opinions that get in the way then it is our opinions that must be minimized and shoved away .

Obama is a great gift to humanity, we are lucky to have him.

Inexplicably many of us are too dumb to understand this.

That be how PRICK EXTRAORDINAIRES BE ROLLEN....

Liberals in 2008: "But..but...BUSH!!!"
Liberals in 2017: "But..but...TRUMP!!"

Q: Why is Obama letting his anti-semitic tendencies show?
A: Trump

Q: Why are we suddenly hating on Russia?
A: Trump

Q: Why did the chicken cross the road?

Q: Why are there dust devils on Mars?

Yea... 57% approval rating, how "pathetic" Obama's job approval hits four-year high | TheHill

That is a curious number. It could be about as accurate as those polls that showed Hillary up by 10 points. It doesn't seem to make sense in light of Trumps win and polls that show the large percentage of the country that sees us on the wrong track. I just wonder who these people are who six months ago disapproved but now approve. I don't know a single person whos opinion on Obama has budged over the last couple of years.

He should have is Nobel Peace Prize revoked.

Between that and giving Dylan one for literature (He was smart enough to blow them off), this Nobel jive sure aint what it used to be.

Polls like that are misleading since the only people that vote on those polls are partisan losers.

Obama is a gutless coward that refused to call out Trump. I legitimately think Obama is afraid of Trump. When they met Obama acted like a fanboy in awe of the Trumpeter.

"Afraid to call out Trump"? You must of missed the campaign cycle...

Obama has never shown anti-Semitic tendencies.

Because, of course, Conservatives never dishonestly blamed Obama for anything.

They live on trumpistan, where there's a repeal but no replace.

All they need is a new name, due to their blind hatred of Obama.

Good to know, but that does not alter the argument that the brand is tarnished.

This forum is called 'Debate Politics' Nimby. There may be one called 'Crazy Insults' - why not try Googling? - which would suit you better.

True enough. But we must say "Both brands are tarnished" - they are separate.
