The Washington Post gave audience to Ruth Everhart who said that the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus, offended her. Why? Well her reason for being offended started off as a claim that the virgin part about Mary was offensive because rape victims could no longer obtain virgin status. But then, if you read further into her statements, the offended lashes out at the church and the “patriarchs” for, as she alleged, making “vaginas inherently dirty” and says that attempting to protect ones virginity until marriage won’t work and was what she called, “the idol of sexual purity.” full article at https://resistancefeed.com/2016/12/19/christmas-is-so-offensive/

This is a good article on the issue of everyone being offended by absolutely anything and trying to get political points or even change laws because they are "offended." Yet if a Christian is offended by something, they are called "intolerant." Funny how that works.

Is the tired and old Hypocrisy card the one that you are playing here?

Finally, a war on Christmas thread. I've been expecting something like this.

There was someone here in the forum yesterday that kept insisting that nobody wanted Merry Christmas replaced with something that offends nobody. It's funny how some liberals ignore reality.

The only thing offensive about Christmas is the offensive inundation of advertisements.

No Lexus...I'm not getting my wife 6 years of exorbitant car payments on that land-yacht for Christmas. Go DIAF.

Most people get offended or outraged when they are harshly criticized. That's not a partisan thing, it's a human thing.

Some people respond to the offense or outrage by pushing to lock town the behavior. That also is not a partisan thing, it's a human thing.

It wasn't that long ago that the right was attempting to censor everything they didn't like, most prominently in the 90s edition of the culture wars. They didn't suddenly decide that it was righteous not to suppress content and impose behaviors on society; rather, they have repeatedly lost ground, and were continually on losing side of social change. Women in the workplace, premarital sex, access to pornography, legal divorce, abandoning organized religion, gay rights and gay marriage, acceptability of alcohol and marijuana use, the rise of hip-hop, the loss of formality, men wearing jeans and t-shirts instead of suits and ties, women wearing super-tight yoga pants instead of dresses, sexually explicit everything... All acceptable. All losses by social conservatives, who often picked those fight when the conflict was already lost.

So, as they are so often wont to do in the midst of a culture war, they try to adopt the opponent's strategies, and play the victim card.

(The latest iteration of the American culture wars may be for white men to be as prejudicial, racist, sexist and misogynistic as they wanna be, and convincing themselves that's the moral high ground. Talk about starting a war that's already lost....)

Granted, there are genuine examples of leftist censorship -- like I said, that's not a partisan thing. However, a hypothetical leftist who is upset at a hypothetical Christian who is positing a hypothetical objection to a WaPo article, criticizing the RCC for being too harsh about women's sexuality? Please. Stop the fauxrage.

I suggest you focus your energy on instances where someone is uninvited from a campus speech because of the speaker's political views.

Jesus had 10 brothers and sisters including a male twin. He was also not anywhere near to being the oldest. Therefore, the virginity of the Madonna must have referred to her pure soul.

Well, I'm offended by Ruth Everhart being offended by the Virgin Mary. Does that make us even?

Most people just want a hippopotamus for Christmas...

The most offensive thing about Christmas, is the ****ing Christmas music, seriously, **** this crap!

If I hear one more rendition of "White Christmas" or "Little Drummer Boy" I'm going to lose my ****ing mind.

I bet you still sing along whether you want to or not.

A friend of mine used to have a cassette of "Dirty" Christmas songs. "It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Syphilis" and "Santa's Whore is Coming to Town" are two that I remember that should offend just about everyone.

She's making a fist...

Stroking it twice...

Rubbing your balls and checking for lice...

Santa's whore is coming to town.

If I could play this in a hotel lobby, I would.

This is something I had been thinking about lately. It is funny how the religious right was the party of censorship and now it's the politically correct left. I nearly spit my drink all over my phone while watching a youtube video of some SJW's talking about banning violent video games. In less than 10 years it has been a complete flip. Luckily people are already opening their eyes to it. There were a few good debates on the issue on the intelligence squared podcast.

I like this post even though I'm an ex Christian. Everyone is very welcome to their own beliefs - when they do not try to force them on others.
