I must give credit where credit is due and the recipient of my praise today is Donald Trump.

You got to hand it to Trump and his people. For months they had to stand by and watch as Mitt Romney became something of a darling of the anti-Trump factions when he would not support Trump nor even say anything nice about him. Sure - Mittens is a insider horse who can only run on the rail and would not lend his name to any independent effort to really hurt Trump - but he was a thorn in the Trump side just the same. It must have completely galled Trump to see Romney praised as a man of principle and values who stood tall in the never Trump campaign.

Then Trump won and legions of GOP members came crawling to Trump Tower to kiss the ring and other things and pledge their undying loyalty to the new King. And when it was leaded that Trump was considering Romney for Sec of State - yup - you guessed it, Mittens made the pilgrimage, put on the knee pads, puckered up for the national media cameras and jumped through the hoops of Trump adoration.

And the master that Trump is at extracting payback, he wisely dragged this out for a couple of weeks as Romney stood by like a loyal dog waiting for his masters order.

And now it is all snatched away and Romney no longer has his principles or his values and is just a rejected office seeker who did not measure up in the bosses eyes.

Beautifully done Donald. I know of no egomaniacal authoritarian who could have done it with more grace and style than you did with Mittens.

You dropped you bait, hooked him good, reeled him in and then hung him up on the chain on the dock for the picture. WOW!!!

Haymarket praising Trump?

Who are you, and what did you do with the real Haymarket? :2razz:

Trump did something politically motivated which was petty and cruel. Haymarket likes this, unsurprisingly. He liked the Clintons, afterall. He'd probably like the people on Game of Thrones you shouldn't root for.

I'm still rooting for Tyrian.

I root for the White Walkers. I especially like their infant care program for new mothers.

And again the Left pretends it can read minds.

The biggest mistake you've made is to make the assumption that Romney WANTED the Secretary of State position.

Yeah the undead seem to be a socialist's cup of tea, alright.

yes - that is what I and most of the world assumed when he made the pilgrimage to Trump Tower and went to dinner and kissed the ring.

Do you have information saying otherwise?

Yeah the undead seem to be a socialist's cup of tea, alright.

They have the official endorsement of the August Spies Drinking and Marching Society.

I don't know what Romney wanted... and I don't have his ear. I know I did not want Rudy G. or Ted Cruz as S/S. Romney in the mix brought a smile ... like Team Trump had thrown me a bone! Trump continues to entertain us in ways that none of the other candidates, if elected, could have approached!

An anonymous source. But it's written in Russian so I dasnt copy/paste.

Edit...Romney could have said nothing at all. Instead? He said this...

It was an honor to have been considered for Secretary of State of our great country. My discussions with President-elect Trump have been both enjoyable and enlightening. I have very high hopes that the new administration will lead the nation to greater strength, prosperity and peace.

If it helps Maggie - when I go to my weekly communist cell meeting I can ask some of the Soviets there if they would translate it for you?

Always glad to help a young lady in need. It will be my good deed for the day and help me get another merit badge.

As I made perfectly clear for the last few months, I can't stand Trump and I didn't vote for him. That said, I'm sure the man has bigger fish to fry than to spend days and weeks on end trying to "humiliate" Mitt Romney. Trump is far more obsessed with people adoring him than he is anything else. He was receiving no adoration, and in fact he was subjecting himself to constant criticism while he was considering Romney for the role. I think he simply went with someone who he believed will represent him on the international stage than Romney would. I would have liked Romney to get the nod, but I'm actually quite happy with Trump's choice of Tillerson for the role.

Lets see if Congress is willing to turn the keys over to another Russian ally in the business world.

This just shows what a petty man that Trump is and why he is such a bad choice as president. He is purposely using his position to punish those that "dared" speak against him during this election. All this is going to foster is a "yes" administration in which advisors will not dare speak against him on subjects. This is going to be a dangerous 4 years if this man's ego doesn't get put in check.

That's a good thing. We need some unity 'round here. :)

You're describing Obama!

I assume you have concrete evidence that Trump never really considered Romney for the role; he simply spent weeks talking to the man, putting up with the howling from his staff and supporters, putting up with the constant media scrutiny, and subjecting himself to criticism for considering him, all because he wanted to punish Romney, and no other reason. Please post it.

We always have to see if Congress approves. They were willing to turn over the keys to Hillary Clinton, so anything is possible.

It's a pattern with Trump. If you choose not to believe it, that's on you. The right wanted this man in office, now they got him. If they **** up the next couple of years it will be SOLELY on them for this mess.

I'm on the right, and have been my entire adult life. I didn't want him in office. I didn't vote for him in the primary nor the General.

I haven't seen any evidence of him ever spending weeks wasting his time so he could humiliate someone.

You obviously have already forgotten the whole Megan Kelly issues and many of his mantrums on Twitter. Again it is a pattern with Trump.
