Remember a few weeks ago when Trump tried to calm critics down by claiming that he had a plan to make sure his private business interests did not conflict with his full time job as President of the USA? He said there would be a press conference this week where he announced the details.

On this matter it most certainly is unprecedented. And "next month" is meaningless enough to be ridiculous given the concern for possible conflicts of interest many are concerned about and now still do not have the answers promised to us .

Trump was under no obligation to liquidate the entirety of everything with the Trump name and then put it into a blind trust like the liberals wanted anyway. And from what I can tell, Trump doesn't have to divest himself from any of his current engagements but people simply want him to for the sake of appearances. I'd be down with it but liberals hate America and Trump so much that they'd complain no matter what he does so there's no point in even trying to appease them.

With him being the most disliked and lacking in approval modern day President - elect, along with winning the EC while losing by the largest popular vote amount in history, and now with all this Russia stuff coming to bear, I really don't see him doing many legit give & take press conferences with the media-at-large anytime soon.

With his "blow everyone off that disagrees with me" attitude, I don't see it getting better anytime soon, unless he changes. Without his changing and realizing it's a bigger country than his 60M voters, it's going to be a troubled, difficult Presidency. He'll be forcing unpopular legislation down the throats of an unwilling and already very restless antagonistic populace.

Quite honestly, I haven't seen anything like this since Nixon, if that!

Its not funny what is in store for the American people. And I happen to love this country and the people who inhabit it and they deserve a whole lot better than the platter of #$%@ that has been given them and then told its prime grad A steak in the visage of Donald Trump - an egomaniacal charlatan with authoritarian tendencies who believe lying to the people is just par for the course.

A quarter of Amercians voted for him and everybody gets to suffer for it. Shame on us.

I had similar thoughts (concerns?) about Obama's election. That is what happens in elections when the other candidate wins. Again, look at the bright side - nobody is calling you a racist over your objections to the election's outcome. ;)

It does and it doesn't. I never felt this way when Bush I or II was elected or even Nixon or Reagan - although he stirred the strongest feelings in me of the GOP winners. Trump is different. Trump has the potential to be the absolute worst President in our nations history making people like Harding look like winners by comparison. I read a lot of history and I have read much about the Third Reich including William L. Shirers opus on it and the parallel scare the hell out of me for my kids and grandkids. Don't get me wrong. I think this is the greatest country on the face of the earth and we can survive Trump - but the damage he can do is significant and sweeping and the downside for somebody like him is infinite.

Another excellent post, NIMBY.

I watched that Maddows segment live, and it was fascinating.

And let's not also forget the voter suppression taking place.

A point here, and a point there, accumulating in the same direction and BAM - there goes the election! (but we still cannot overlook HRC's dislikeability)

And then there's ALEC at the state level, which is a whole 'nother thing.

But now the country is bitterly torn, because the general populace is predominately with the Dems - even if only slightly, while the system has been used to pull the country Right, if not Alt-Right.

Yes and no. Trump is already seeking confrontations with Mexico via nafta and china via Taiwan. These aren't things to take lightly. Do I think he is the next hitler? Nope. Do I think he is going to do serious damage to America with his foreign policy if he stays his current course? Absolutely. Obviously time will tell and I hope I am wrong.
