I've been disappointed and quite frankly depressed about the whole political reality lately, so I've avoided the news media as often as possible. That included last night, when I voted late, came home and completely ignored ALL news and election related media.

The reason I ignored it last night, was because I had already been CONVINCED by the MSM that Trump did not have a snowball's chance in hell of winning the election! Over the past 6 weeks, all I've heard is the MSM and every tv channel, social media site telling us how evil and dangerous Trump is, and that the American people hate him for it! I was hearing progressive elites tell us that Hillary would get 360 electoral votes and win by near-record landslide numbers!

This same thing happened in 2004, when the MSM were trying to convince us that Kerry would beat Bush by big numbers, and their exit polls were disasterously false.

For this information to continuously be so wrong, and considering that a depressed conservative electorate would be a sound political strategy, while of course considering the now proven pro-democrat activism of the MSM, you have to seriously consider the idea that they were trying to negatively affect republican voter turnout by posting false poll numbers that appear that Trump had no chance to begin with....

Sometimes the underdog not only beats the spread but actually wins the game - that is why the games are played. ;)

I think what he's saying is, that the folks that are supposed to be reporting the news, who are supposed to be up on current events, trends, etc....are more and more oblivious and disconnected to the very society upon which they are paid to know so well.

I don't know who you were listening to in 2004 but all the final polls had Bush winning.

2012 and 2016 have been pretty big failures though are far as polling.

I think had the Comey letter not come out Hillary probably would have won and we would be talking about the almost landslide she would have had.

I agree, but when you keep seeing unusual phenomenon like this, as well as mistakes and coincidences that ALWAYS seem to benefit 1 particular political party, at some point you stop writing it off as coincidence.

If I were to do a daily exercise of 100 coin flips, which happened in private where nobody could see the actual flips of the coin, and every day I reported that the results were that it came up tails at least 95/100 tries, and that continued on every day, of every week, of every year, for decades, then at some point you'd be forced to admit that deception was afoot. Well, that's a pretty accurate analogy of the MSM when it comes to political and ideological issues. Every day we see the same one-sided bias in their reporting. Every day we see them report negative things about republicans and conservatives, while every day they seem to manage to omit negative news about democrats or relating to failing progressive policies. Every day we hear them regurgitating democratic party propaganda.

You're wrong. Do a Google search for 2004 exit polls pick Kerry to win. It was a huge story for quite a while after the election in 2004. There's loads of info about it. CNN even ignored the actual polling data for almost 2 hours that showed Bush ahead late on election night, as they kept claiming that the election "was Kerry's to lose". They were stunned when they finally decided to rely on factual election data and realized that Bush had won. As I recall, Kerry even refused to admit defeat til the next day!

It's because the media is part of the neoliberal, globalist establishment. America is angry and despaired over how it has been treated by these elites. Either the MSM wasn't aware of it or they chose to not share it because they are part of the very establishment that people are pissed off with.

Trump will make a horrible leader, but he has one talent which is what won him the Presidency: he can take the pulse of his audience very accurately. He was aware of the levels of anger and capitalized on it. He saw something that Hillary nor the MSM were willing/able to talk about. Angry people don't care who they're voting for if the candidate reflects their anger back at them. That pretty much describes the rise of demagogues and fascists. Clinton is the embodiment of the establishment, her husband expanded free trade like crazy during his Presidency, she voted for huge corporate bailouts, and she did keep trying to sell "everything is alright" which just makes angry people more angry.

Like I said in another thread... Trump is probably not going to bring the changes that angry people are hoping for. What he will be is a homeopathic dose of like treating like by showing America its darkest shadow so that maybe people will really fight for change.

These are hard times. On top of everything else, neither candidate talked about climate problems whatsoever. We are in the 11th hour on a global scale of ecological disaster in the making and the world's most powerful country had two POTUS candidates completely avoiding the topic. We are ****ed.

No thanks. I prefer speaking the truth as opposed to ignoring it. If the truth inconveniences you, I can't help that. The MSM are biased, and regardless of the election results, that fact won't change. They will demonize Trump just like they did Bush. In other words, they will hold the Republican to a very different standard than they did with Barack Obama, who has been given pass after pass.

I hope you are wrong, just like I hoped conservatives were wrong when they said that Obama wouldn't be a good president. I didn't really like either 2016 candidate, and wouldve preferred a do over for both primaries, for new candidates!

But this is who is going to be in charge, and he has an actual record of supporting moderate and even progressive ideas. At one point years ago, he supposedly supported partial birth abortion! That's too radical for me, although I support early term abortion. I hope he compromises more than Obama did when it's in the best interests of the country. I hope he continues moving us towards green energy options, and leads as a moderate.

Exactly - but like rap (or any other style of) music, if it sells to a large enough audience then it will not change.

The exit polls show Bush getting 51.22% of the vote he got 50.7%

CNN.com Election 2004

Not to mention the final polls have Bush up by an average of 1.5 points and only 1 final poll had Kerry winning.

He used to be a Democratic supporter. There's even footage of him shmoozing with the Clintons.

My hope is that he just read the audience and gave them what they wanted... and that he doesn't really believe half the crap he says.

Second time I have seen a thread on excuses why someone did not participate, my reply is; give it a break and take personal responsibility for your own actions or lack there of.
