Vote for Trump to preserve SCOTUS?

She lied about a national security matter that put our nation at grave risk because of her terrible judgement! This is not a "political" lie that I will fix all the pot holes if I am elected!
But I am glad you now realize that she did lie about the e-mail server and e-mails.

And how does a private server violate the espionage act or federal records act?

I've abandoned no such argument.

You made it - it was countered - you abandoned it. But if you'd like to defend the notion that the guy who thinks that Judges sign bills, that it's the Chief Executives' job to pick winners and losers in the marketplace and tell companies what they can and cannot put on their cups, who hollers about articles of the Constitution that don't exist, and who has never met a centralization of power that he didn't like does know about or respect the Constitution, well, I'd be interested in seeing what you could build that argument on, other than fitful, occasional, campaign boilerplate.

And you are still carrying water.

 nope. :) I warned months ago that Trump would give the media all the ammo they needed to make as much money taking him down as they had made building him up. What I'm not doing is selling myself in defense of a serial-lying charlatan.

It wasn't anyone else who made him lie, smear, and viciously attack his opponents throughout the primary - it was Donald Trump.
It wasn't anyone else who made him mock a crippled reporter - it was Donald Trump.
It wasn't anyone else who made him dismiss the heroism of POWs - it was Donald Trump.
It wasn't anyone else who made him ally with the Alt Right and energize some of the worst elements of our society - it was Donald Trump.
It wasn't anyone else who made him act like a petulant child with the self-control of a toddler - it was Donald Trump.
It wasn't anyone else who made him build a public persona based on humiliating his wives by bragging about how he was cheating on them - it was Donald Trump.
It wasn't anyone else who made him refuse to take the task of preparing for the Presidency seriously, resulting in an utterly informed candidate - it was Donald Trump.

If you wanted to make the argument that Donald Trump is an angry, pathetic, moronic child whose obsessive narcissism has led him to serial-dishonesty, serial-adultery, serial-failure, and continued abuse and conning of others throughout the course of his life, your key witness in that argument would be Donald Trump.

yeah its not the president for the most part-its the senior leaders of his/her party for the relevant districts and appellate circuits. I know, I was asked if I was interested if Romney had won

Re Constitution...you nor anyone else can know what goes on in another's mind. To make an assumption that DT doesn't support the Constitution of the US requires knowledge you don't have. I am of the OPINION that he loves this country, respects the Constitution of the US, because, sans our form of gvmt, he would not be where he is in his personal life -- a very successful capitalist.

The things you list as his detriments are also those things that make him attractive to the MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of people who propelled him to the top of the Republican ticket. You're #1, I don't agree with that. His competition gave as good as they got. #2, I thought that was reprehensible. But then again, Hillary Clinton's PAC suggests he's autistic. LMFAO. Your #3, and yet it appears that more in the military support him than don't. To what do you attribute that fact? I don't even know what #4 means. #5, subjective. I don't agree. #6, I don't know anything about that, thus I don't agree. #7, I don't know anything about THAT.

You can't just make **** up.

He has paved the way for the next outsider. We need outsiders. The next one will do better. The incest in our gvmt is appalling. For all of his faults, he means well. For anyone to impute nefarious motives to his candidacy is just hateful and wrong. He's not a politician. He's made lots of mistakes. And yet, he's come very close to toppling the status quo. Because he's not it.

I don't defend him much beyond he's got my vote. You? Vote for a liberal SCOTUS for the next 25 or 30 years. Put the same old same old in the White House. That should just about do it for the United States of America.

It's too bad the people of our country are SO disgusted with the status quo that Donald Trump became the nominee. But such is what we have...a flawed inexperienced capitalist whom the status quo is SO afraid of that they have all but destroyed him. You will, of course, say he destroyed himself. And I will continue to disagree.

Know for a 100% certainty? Probably not. But we can make fairly solid assessments given a massive amount of data, and the data that Trump has given out in spades is contrary to your preferred conclusion.

The things you list as his detriments are also those things that make him attractive to the MILLIONS AND MILLIONS of people who propelled him to the top of the Republican ticket.

Okedoke. Show me the numbers supporting the pro-serial-adultery demographics. Where are the voters out there who say "Give me a man who humiliates his wife in public!"

You're #1, I don't agree with that. His competition gave as good as they got.

Hm. Well, okay. Who among Trump's competition insinuated that their opponents were ugly, that their opponents' wives were ugly, compared their opponents to child molesters, or suggested their opponents' family members were connected the assassination of any major American political actor?

#2, I thought that was reprehensible. But then again, Hillary Clinton's PAC suggests he's autistic. LMFAO.

It was reprehensible. Hillary Clinton being stupid or reprehensible doesn't make Trump not so.

Your #3, and yet it appears that more in the military support him than don't. To what do you attribute that fact?

The fact that the military is heavily Republican, and has been for decades. I note, however, that this is an attempt to deflect from the point. Nobody made the idea that Trump decide to degrade the heroism of POW's in order to insult McCain. No one is having to go to any length to vilify him by pretending that he did so, Trump did that all on his own.

I don't even know what #4 means.

The Alt Right bills themselves as the ideological replacements for the "Cuckservative" "losers" who have been the ideological impetus behind much of the Republican Party. Their most "mainstream" home media-wise is Breitbart, who published a little apologia for the movement. You know how Democrats love to stupidly claim that one of the animating secret causes of the GOP is racism? Well, sadly, it's not as stupid as it used to be. The Alt Right is a bit eclectic, bust mostly come down around what is often known as the "Identitarian" movement in the US, which claims (among other things) that the mass-importation of lesser brown peoples will swamp the superior genetic stock of Whites (though not necessarily white Christians). Cuckservative losers have given in pre-emptively to the Lefts' Tribalism and refused to defend the White Race, so it's now up to them to do so. As part of that, generally there's also a lot of economic nationalism - you know, socialism in one country - and whatnot.

The Trump campaign was able to maintain some plausible deniability - not in that they hadn't winked at them, encouraged them, laughed at them, etc., but that they didn't know exactly what they were doing - until they hired Steve Bannon, the CEO of Breitbart, to run his campaign.

#5, subjective. I don't agree.

If my child treated people the way Trump does, I would pop his little mouth. Trump is unable to not take bait (which Hillary used to get out of several lines of discussion which otherwise would have opened up real vulnerabilities), he is unable to not punch down, be the target a woman, a judge, or a gold-star family. He is unable to admit responsibility for anything he does, or take responsibility for anything going wrong.

No one else makes Trump take to twitter the way he does. Only Trump does that.

#6, I don't know anything about that, thus I don't agree.

Trump was a relatively little-known public persona (wealthy real estate heir with some odd hair) until he decided to make a tabloid name for himself by bragging about how he was cheating on his wife. In at least one odd case, he would impersonate an employee of his to call up reporters to brag about why he was dumping his wife for models, and how much sex he was having. He told the tabloids he was going to divorce his wife before he told her, so that she could find out from the papers. In his books, he claims that he was already bored with his second wife the day he married her, and that he had had a number of affairs with both single and married women.

You don't? You have really missed that Trump hasn't bothered to do even the basic reading, study, prep, and actual hard work that would go into managing government?

One fun example:

You can't just make **** up.

I haven't made a single thing up. I loathe the Clinton's, I think that Hillary is dangerous, incompetent, and a criminal. I think that the idea that she is going to get away with felony and be rewarded with the highest office in the land is a serious blow to Rule of Law. I desperately wanted a Republican victory in 2016. But Trump has done Every. Single. Damn. Thing. that I have described, and plenty more, that make him unfit for the office of President, and morally abhorrent as a candidate.

He has paved the way for the next outsider. We need outsiders. The next one will do better. The incest in our gvmt is appalling. For all of his faults, he means well.

Again, there is not a scintilla of evidence that supports that he is doing this as a public service, and a good bit that says that he is rather doing this for himself. I'd say he means well about as much as Hillary Clinton does.

For anyone to impute nefarious motives to his candidacy is just hateful and wrong.

No, it is a judgment based on his words and actions that demonstrate that that is likely the case.

I don't defend him much beyond he's got my vote. You? Vote for a liberal SCOTUS for the next 25 or 30 years.

Unlike those who vote for Hillary or Trump, I have no intention of doing so.

We lost the SCOTUS on May 3rd, and Trump has encouraged his supporters to punish other Republicans for trying to win by distancing themselves from him - if he gave a crap about SCOTUS, he'd be trying to preserve the GOP's Senate. But he doesn't. He cares about Trump.

It's too bad the people of our country are SO disgusted with the status quo that Donald Trump became the nominee

On that I solidly concur.

But such is what we have...a flawed inexperienced capitalist

He's not a Capitalist. He's a crony-capitalist. He is (there, at least) ideologically indistinguishable from his major opponent.

whom the status quo is SO afraid of that they have all but destroyed him.

 they didn't have to destroy him. He destroyed himself.

You will, of course, say he destroyed himself. And I will continue to disagree.

Well, again, my chief witness demonstrating that you are incorrect.... is Donald J Trump. No one made him act like this over the past few decades. No one made him act like this on the campaign trail. It would have been pathetically easy for him to beat Hillary Clinton..... if he had been even a semi-decent human being, he could have pulled it off. Sadly, not so much.

We will continue to disagree. But I give you the solid win here. I've never seen you more passionate about a subject on DP. Great job. My heart tells me I'm right, but, frankly, I can't disagree with much of what you've said.

At any rate, I'm hoping he makes a good showing. With that, perhaps there is some hope.

Good job, CP. Props to you.
