Independent candidate Evan McMullin now has comfortable 4 point lead in Utah bringing his total support to 31% to Trump's 27.

It's a weird campaign strategy, but McMullin can disrupt the Presidential election and run the Mormon gauntlet through the west in order to change everything up in the last two weeks! I say, go for it Evan!

I'm not holding my breath but this is certainly an exciting turn of events!

I wouldn't say "comfortable", but it's definitely more comfortable then being down 4!

Yeah, good news.

Yeah the last few polls have had him basically tied, now he is four plus! I mean four plus is still technically tied, but depends on the margin of error. Some say +3 is the real margin of error!!!

What do you think his chances are of "conquering" Idaho?

Hey I only just heard of this guy a month ago, and there are enough Mormons out there who are disgusted with Trump. If they hear him, they will vote for him. It's a pretty simple formula he's got. The Mormon coalition helped found this country, and they've had a pretty powerful nominee last time too.

Great! Less votes for trump and let's Hilliary keep her lead.

Not really. Republicans own the house. Hillary still has get to 270, otherwise it's a conservative president.

And let's not forget one poll does not make a trend or consensus.

Just playin' Devil's advocate, here.

But yeah, better 4 up - than 4 down! ;)

One thing that has been a trend lately is Trump hemorrhaging potential votes.

He might flip Idaho to Hillary, because the panhandle is generally more democratic then the south where the Mormons live, up north is where Cecil Andrus won his gubernatorial victories. The Mormons gather south between Boise and Utah, and I don't know if they're enough in number to flip the state, they may be enough to cancel out the evangelicals out south

I dunno, I think unless it's a really close margin the house will choose the popular vote. Especially since Hillary will probably win a number of republican districts. It will be hard to Campaign on going against the electorate. The electoral college is not made up of elected officers, generally, and so electors vote how they pledge. Congress is going to be different

Not to mention if McMullin performs strong enough he could bring about the realization in those people that they have more than the two awful choices they have been presented with, and begin peeling away with Democrats, too.

Except McMullen is not a democtat and is not on enough state ballots to disrupt this election

I don't forsee her failing to get 270 EV's without the vote being razor thin, so that's just a given think, that the House will have the casus belli to make Trump the next president(if they want), or if they want to show some balls, make McMullin the president, if he wins a state.

The House that would vote on POTUS wouldn't be this year's, but next year's. Just noting.

Yeah, Trump would have to do really well in states that he isn't right now. He'd actually have to be close to winning, and boy will we hear about the "rigged system" then...

Zero chance.

After the 2 highly-publicized rape incidents involving Muslim refugees, Idaho might go to Trump.

CNN last night finally added McMullin in their tracking, but they had Utah as a toss up not a lean McMullin state.

Finally a silver lining to this election. Both candidates are so bad that its allowing independents to make some headway.

Evan McMullin who is part of the #NeverTrump group can be really proud trying
to play a part in getting Crooked Hillary elected.

Maybe she will invite him to the inaugural in January 2017!

While would love to see McMullin win Utah, I would bet against it. In the last day of the campaign when the vast majority of voters actually vote, the old habit of pulling that Republican lever will dominate and they will vote for Trump. I would expect Trump to win Utah by at least five points - if not much more.

She'd do one better and offer him a job. Crooked politicans do it all the time.

One would think an independent such as yourself would be happy about this. If a guy is running because he doesn't like Trump, wouldn't that make him independent??
