I'm not a liberal. That's absurd.
I'm someone believes in honesty and common sense. For you to deny the vitriol directed towards President Obama is dumb. No other President has had his birth place questioned like Obama. No other President has faced the number of filibusters. While John McCain, to his credit, corrected the woman who called Obama an "Arab", you are completely wrong if you think that woman was the only person who believed such a thing.
Let me be clear on this. I'm not necessarily all Republicans have a problem with Obama's skin color. I don't believe that. I'm also not saying all or any Republican politicians have a problem with his skin color (I'm sure some do but most probably don't). But you're just fooling yourself if you think there is not a significant percentage of the Republican constituency that does hold racist leanings. You can see it in this election with Donald Trump and his constant demonization of Mexicans and his wall. And as a personal anecdote, my mother is married to a very good man, but one who told me, point blank, he didn't want Obama in the White House because he was a Muslim and we can't have Muslims in government. Again, he's a really good man, don't get me wrong, but he sincerely believed that. I don't recall any other President being accused of being a Muslim.
I'm not interjecting accusations of racism, I'm accurately describing what has happened over the last 8 years. You can deny it if you want, but it won't make it any less true. The Republican Party turned bats*** crazy over the last 8 years, to the point where they have now nominated a man who once claimed her could shoot someone in the middle of the street and not lose any votes. And that's why there's a very good chance the Republicans will, once again, lose an election they should win.
