I watched this on Friday and thought I'd post it here. I like hearing their take on the recent news and their opinions always seem to be well measured and reasonable. There's a 13 minute video with transcript in the link, for anyone interested.

Syndicated columnist Mark Shields and New York Times columnist David Brooks join Amna Nawaz to discuss the week in politics, including the growing rift between President Trump and Dr. Anthony Fauci, what GOP criticism of Trump means for his reelection bid, the latest primary election results and poll numbers and the ongoing debate over mail-in ballots.

Biden's strategy seems to hide in the basement and let Trump implode. Not sure it will work. Biden is still stuck around 50% nationally. With Trump at 40 they are basically neck in neck.

I wouldn't exactly call a 10pt lead, "neck & neck". But I do agree it could be possible for Trump to catch up.

There is an old saying here abouts- 'If your rival is sawing off the branch he is sitting on you don't have to swing your axe'... :2wave:

tRump is actually breaking a sweat, probably for the first time in his life doing manual labor, cutting his own branch off. It appears the longer Biden refuses to enter the **** pit tRump revels in the more outrageous tRump becomes. tRumps poll numbers on crucial questions tell us how Americans feel about tRump's lack of leadership, more and more Republicans are getting their moral codes back and refusing to back the Orange Guy....

Oh another good saying using a nautical setting- 'If the wind is filling my sail why should I paddle?' tRump bellowing is filling Biden's sail. At this rate why debate, Biden has nothing to gain and refusing will send tRump into a purple rage... :peace

I agree with the bolded. Biden's strategy, for now, is working. Trump is dying in a deep quagmire, and Biden seems to calmly skate around it - unaffected. Trump has had to resort to ever more outlandish antics, and still Biden remains beyond his touch. Hopefully Biden can continue, forcing Trump to go even further off the deep end in an effort to get a reaction back. It's got to be driving Trump nuts, as seems Biden remain virtually untouchable up 'till now.

Biden won't be able to hide in his basement forever. Right now, people aren't paying a lot of attention. Come September, they are going to increasingly not his absence. The virtual convention is going to roll his boat.

Ummm it is tRump who runs for his bunker at the first whiff of imagined trouble....

I realize the tRump faithful have to try and flip that script, but it ain't gaining traction outside the rabid right ranters.

People are paying a great deal of attention- to the tRump meltdowns and increasingly outrageous lies. Again as long as tRump keeps sawing his branch Biden doesn't need to debate him, simply address the American people with ads about the issues before us- pandemic, economy, reforms.

At this rate all Biden needs to do is appear on the virtual convention stage and say, "I ain't him", drop the mic and walk off.... :peace

As of right now the spread's more like 15 points. I think Biden's strategy is a great strategy and as long as he wins I don't care if he campaigns from home until election day.
