There is currently a group called "Republican Voters Against Trump" that is publishing people's stories, generally from life-long republicans, who have decided they will not be voting for Donald Trump and/or the Republican Party in November. Many of them are prepared to vote for Joe Biden. This includes people who voted for Trump in 2016 but can no longer bring themselves to support him.

Given where America is (and where it seems to be taking the rest of the world with it), it is very reassuring and humbling to hear ordinary people taking a hard headed look at what is going on. The danger is that things become so polarised is that we lose sight of each other, who we really are and what we share in common. Maybe, if you need a little bit of hope that somehow we will get out of this mess, you may want to take a look.

If you are a Republican who is considering voting for Joe Biden or an alternative to Trump, please feel free to share your thoughts here in the thread. I'd also be interested in hearing people's thoughts on the videos if you have watched them.

p.s. Whoever you are and whereever you are, I hope you're all staying safe during the riots and coronavirus.:)

Despite the hype, some links here and there, Republicans have no where else to go.

More of the same from never Trumpers. Nothing new about this.
There is no way a republican/conservative would vote for a Biden administration. Never! (Or a tuna sandwich) :)
A nice try on spinning it!

Nothing but liars who claim to be republicans. You are a communist. So why would you vote for someone who is ideologically the complete opposite of you if hypothetically you hated your party's nomination? Because you voting for someone who is the complete opposite of you means that laws you don't like are going to get enacted by this person and judges are going to be appointed by this who are going to uphold these laws you don't like.

It makes no sense. Because its a fact Biden is going to mostly enact laws republican/conservatives will not like. And its a fact Biden will make judicial appointments who are going to uphold almost everyone of the laws Biden and other leftists have enacted.

Sane heads know the problem is Trump.

To be clear, as I live in the UK I won't have to vote for Biden in November. (I would, but I would have preferred Sanders).

But Communists have never got more than 0.5% of the vote in any UK General election since 1920, whereas polling data suggests between 1-3% of Brits currently think the world is flat. Not getting what I want, being wildly out numbered (typically 100-to-1 or more) and not being taken seriously is part of the territory. That minority status really changes the way you evaluate what is important and how you apply your principles in different situations. Given the extraordinary pressures to give up, you have to learn skills of diplomacy, compromise and negotiation to get along with people as best you can and not alienate friends and family needlessly. It's important to listen to others, recognise they care about many of the same things you do even if they don't share your views and to learn how to be a good neighbour even when you do disagree with them. You'd be surprised how far a sense of humour, not take yourself too seriously and the ability to laugh at yourself can get you.

Are Republicans who vote for Democrats really Republican? Heck, are these people even Republicans? How do we know? They could be paid actors. That would actually be pretty clever. But lets assume they are. The first lady says Biden is a decent man, and shes against authoritarianism, but who is more authoritarian, Democrats who want to control your speech, ignore the constitution, lock people up for giving someone a haircut? Or Trump who lowered taxes, repealed regulations, reopened the country?

I dont support either party, or Trump, and he is a jerk. But Democrats are not a valid alternative for someone who claims to be Republican. If she supports reason and freedom and decency and inclusion, there is only one party for that. Libertarian. And im not a member of that party either.

Not everyone is 100% Democrat or 100% Republican, nor in a free society do you want people insisting one party has a monopoly on truth because of the need to tolerate the range of views that spontaneously develop among large groups of people based on differences in their experience. So it is more than possible for Democrats to vote for Republicans or Republicans to vote for Democrats. it is also generally healthier when we don't define ourselves by a single aspect of our identity such as race, gender, religion or political affiliation as people are complicated. We aren't the labels we give ourselves or are given by others as there is always more to the story of who we are than that.

The parties are farther apart than ever before so if someone wants to claim theyre a Republican and then claim to vote democrat, you have to question their credibility.

With all the hype about never Trumpers in 2016, 88% of Republicans voted for Trump. The historical average for both major parties is 90% voting for their candidate regardless of who he is. Republicans 88% Trump, 8% Clinton, 4% third party. Democrats in 2016 89% Clinton, 8% Trump, 3% third party.

https://www.cnn.com/election/2016/results/exit-polls

Today, in the trial heat between Trump and Biden, Republicans are showing 87% Trump, 6% Biden, the rest third party or undecided. Democrats 87% Biden, 4% Trump, the rest third party or undecided.

I think you should be concentrating on independents. It's independents that voted for Trump in 2016 and handed him the white house. I certainly wouldn't get caught up with Never Trump or Republican voters against Trump. They're not going to decide anything except help meet the historical average for party voting for their candidate.

Fact is you have a certain percentage of Republicans not happy with Trump, you also have a certain percentage of democrats not happy with Biden. That is normal, there are always some. But if you want to win an election, you concentrate on independents. After all according to Gallup, they make up approximately 40% of the electorate. More than the Democrats at 31% and more than the GOP at 28%.

What goes unnoticed is the dissatisfaction people have with both major parties. Both major parties are shrinking. In 2006 independents made up only 30% of the electorate, the major parties 68%. Today, independents have risen to 40%, the two major parties have dropped to 59% and the two major parties continue to shrink. I won't go into the causes of the shrinking, but the reason are there for those opened minded and as plain as the nose on your face.

Try a move to China, enjoy Communism!

Wrong, many people put country over party.

What do s that mean judges that uphold laws you don't like?

I thought cultists were apposed to judges legislating from the bench...

They can do like Amash did and switch to the LP.

Thats code for waa waa republicans won't enact **** democrats want or waa waa democrats won't enact **** republicans want. No one votes for democrats hoping they give republicans what they want and no one votes or republicans hoping they give democrats what they want. Its why we have political parties in the first place.
What do s that mean judges that uphold laws you don't like?
So you are saying you love and every liberal out there agree with the Citizens United ruling?
I thought cultists were apposed to judges legislating from the bench...

Anyone with brain in their head knows judges make rulings based on political beliefs. So don't pretend to be retarded by acting like they don't.

George F. Will has his outrage set on "full automatic."

Trump must be removed. So must his congressional enablers.

This unraveling presidency began with the Crybaby-in-Chief banging his spoon on his highchair tray to protest a photograph — a photograph — showing that his inauguration crowd the day before had been smaller than the one four years previous. Since then, this weak person’s idea of a strong person, this chest-pounding advertisement of his own gnawing insecurities, this low-rent Lear raging on his Twitter-heath has proven that the phrase malignant buffoon is not an oxymoron.

Presidents, exploiting modern communications technologies and abetted today by journalists preening as the “resistance” — like members of the French Resistance 1940-1944, minus the bravery — can set the tone of American society, which is regrettably soft wax on which presidents leave their marks. The president’s provocations — his coarsening of public discourse that lowers the threshold for acting out by people as mentally crippled as he — do not excuse the violent few. They must be punished. He must be removed. . . .
