If he responds that way, he can count on the community supporting him.
He does not need to "out-Trump" Mister Trump.

I disagree, I don't think he was doing anything like trying to out-Trump at all, he was just having an honest back and forth, I thought it was very natural.....only Fox and the Trumpies made it something it was not. However, I did hear that he apologized after hearing some blowback....too bad, what he said was true and not offensive or racist at all, in my opinion.

You do realize that Robert L Johnson was born in 1946 in Hickory, Mississippi. If I remember correctly, I believe he was the ninth of ten children.

And the thing is, Biden does not HAVE the same talents as Trump anyway. It's Trump who delights in saying the unthinkable.
Biden is and always has been a decent man, so why should he suddenly start believing that in order to win any community, black or otherwise, that he suddenly has to grow a new personality?

He doesn't need to take on a new persona just because he's courting this or that ethnic community or because the opposition candidate has a reputation for not having a filter. Biden needs to BE the guy who HAS the filter.

The black community, or any community for that matter, isn't looking for Biden to beat Trump at Trump's game, they're looking for an alternative.
Biden can win by simply asking if they are better off than they were four years ago, simple as that.

It wasn't racist, but it was stupid.
How about:
"If you can't make up your mind between me and Trump at this point, are you sure you're interested in what benefits the black community or are you more interested in what favors you can get from Trump to the detriment of the black community? Trump will help you if you're a black donor with a lot of money but he will hurt your community at the same time and laugh about it. We know that already because we're seeing it happening."

So even if there is some element of truth in Biden's wisecrack, wisecracks aren't what's needed and Biden shouldn't be resorting to wisecracks to illuminate himself.
And the thing is, whether you're born black, or yellow, or purple polka dotted, no one is under any obligation to act a certain way because of their color. So one cannot stop "being black" because being black is a genetic trait.
There is no "black personality", there is no "black values" either because all of those values are UNIVERSAL...or need to be.
So you can't accuse someone of "not being black" any more than I can be accused of "not being Italian" just because I said that I don't like Anisette or espresso with lemon in it or because I don't like watching "Jersey Shore".

I can't not be Italian, and black people can't "not be black". it's a flawed mode of thinking.

I am well aware of Mr. Johnson's biography. I've worked on something like fifteen BET productions in my life and I shot red carpet for NAACP Image Awards for five years too, starting back when they used to be held at The Wiltern Theater.
And that biographical hint has nothing to do with anything.
For one thing, his family moved to Illinois when he was a toddler.

And by the way, born in 1946 means that along the way his entire family benefited from The New Deal, no matter what color they are.
I realize he may not wish to acknowledge that fact.
A lot of right wingers don't acknowledge the fact that The New Deal and Civil Rights legislation helped them and their families immensely.

You trying to hang all of this on Johnson being born into a Mississippi sharecropper family is every bit as dumb as Biden trying to outdo Trump with brash statements and no filter.

The virus isn't Trump's fault but two and a half months of sitting on his ass and outright LYING about it is.
Our miserable response and the resulting damage are 100 percent his fault and the fault of his fellow Trump Republicans who enabled him.

You guys made him a messiah, God sent a plague in response, simple as that.
Ignoring the plague boils down to mocking, daring or testing God in a Christian sense and God seriously detests being mocked, dared or tested.
And God don't like ugly either.

So the answer is, NO...black community, like ALL communities, is way worse off.

You can't refute a single thing I said in any of my posts, so now you're attempting to make this into a thread having to do with your opinion of me.
No one gives a damn what you think of me. That's not why they're here.

In a nutshell, Johnson is and has been mostly a Republican his entire life, so I am not interested in Johnson's views on Obama, Biden or any other Democrat, and Hillz isn't running for POTUS, so his support for her is meaningless to me.

The fact is, Johnson thinks Trump is doing just fine, which means he has no earthly idea what Trump's doing, or he wants to pretend he doesn't know. So his position on Democrats is utterly pointless. It's no different than consulting you for your opinion on Democrats.

It's probably a good thing he stepped away from BET in 2006 because the board would probably boot his sorry ass out anyway right now.

Yep. The number one rule of battles is to fight them on your own ground, on your own terms. Whenever you fight a battle on the other guy's terms, you're at disadvantage. Joining Trump on his turf, is folly. Better to provide a successful contrast to the point of forcing him to either stay in his corner by himself, or come to you where your strengths are. And Biden's strength is in being non-Trump.

It's really basic stuff, to be honest. And Biden just did this admirably with the Reide smear. Biden stayed away from the Trump-RW media corner, never giving them any recognition, credence, or gravitas. He basically ignored them. Then he came out one time only, calmly put it to rest, and ignored it afterwards - leaving Trump & the RW media twiddling their thumbs to no avail.

It was a textbook job. The media got the interview they wanted, no less - no more, Biden skated off, and the story died in the Trump media due to lack of response outside of it. Trump-Fox-Hannity saw they weren't getting anywhere, and quickly moved on to 'Obamagate'. Thankfully the media isn't giving the Trump propaganda machine any free airtime there, either. They've smartened-up.

I'm really getting the sense that the media has finally realized they should not inadvertently become part of the Trump propaganda juggernaut, as they did in 2016. And it seems to be working. Good for them.

You seem like an angry person. I wonder how much of what you say is based off emotion and what is based on fact. I think too many people on here lack emotional intelligence. It's easy too google something from the sight that supports your team and then repeat it. I look at things as they are and keep my emotions out of it.
