That didn't last long!

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michigan Rep. Justin Amash, a high-profile critic of President Donald Trump who quit the GOP and became an independent, announced Saturday he would not seek the Libertarian nomination for the White House, weeks after saying he was running because voters wanted an “alternative” to the two major parties.
In deciding to drop out, he cited the challenges of trying to campaign as a third-party candidate during the coronavirus pandemic.

It's unfortunate but America has two and only two parties which have 100% of the power. The system is designed from the ground up to prevent other parties from getting even a slither of power, which leads to the fact that no matter how unpopular the Republicans and Democrats become, they can't be voted out of office and their collective power will never dwindle.

This is not real democracy. A real democracy would allow parties to rise and fall based on popularity not insure the same two private organizations keep all of the power no matter what.

Amash finally recognized this fact. There's no circumstance where a third party can win a presidential election and the Republican party has been completely taken over by Trumpism, leaving moderate conservatives nowhere to go.
