Democratic Debate of March 15, 2020

Does Bernie just hate capitalism and economic success as much as it seems? Socialism Bernie style.

It's so easy for Mexicans to enter America illegally, if we gave them free health insurance, they'd take advantage of us.

They are both speaking wisely about avoiding Covid19, the one in the WH should take a lesson. But, I hope they don't spend too much time on the pandemic.

Uh, oh.. they got a little snipey about superpacs and election funding. Now they're fighting over who's against entitlements.

Nobody pays. That has already been but in the bill.

Yep, whatever is spent fixing the "crisis" will be put on the nation's tab for future generations to deal with. IMHO, this is simply step one in buying votes on credit - I expect to see "bailouts" for travel/tourism, professional sports, restaurant/hospitality and education workers (but mostly to their bosses/investors).

Biden just reminded everyone that he plans to build on the ACA and have the Medicare for All option for those who want it. I think that's the most reasonable approach for this election.

You can't have a heavily subsidized public option without mandating that those not selecting it end up getting the bill for it.

That may be true, and I'm not an expert on any of this, but at least there would be a choice to select it or not. If it was forced on everyone, those who wanted to keep their private insurance would still help pay for the bill and be screwed out of choosing.

My point is that a mandate to offer Medicare for all (who want it) is still robbing Peter to pay Paul - you simply can't make paying for it optional. The only reason that Medicare and Medicaid can now get away with paying "lower costs" is that the providers of medical care goods/services raise the cost charged to 'private' payers (to make up the difference).

By all measure, the most useless debate so far.

I disagree, there were other debates that truly were useless. It's important to hear the two candidates who are running to be our President to be heard on some key issues. One of them will get the nomination and our votes, unless of course for those of us who are Trump Klan loyalists.

Not really. Biden seems to be commanding the debate right now. I won't vote for him, but he at least seems to have Bernie on the backs of his feet

This debate is why Republicans capitalize.

Mexico has national healthcare. In many aspects their healthcare is better than ours. No one comes here from Mexico for "free healthcare".

In fact, more Americans go to Mexico to play upon their healthcare system than the opposite.

Thousands of Americans are Crossing the Border Into Mexico Every Year to Get Affordable Medical Treatment

This debate is why Republicans capitalize.

Republicans will capitalize any time the dems focus on the far left issues. Bernie seems stuck on that song. Biden seems to at least be trying to pitch to the center.

Nations that have national health insurance universally experience better health outcomes at lower costs than experienced in the United States. While your taxes may increase, the total amount you pay for healthcare (individually and as a society) should be lower than what we are experiencing now.

..... if Republicans survive the Corona Virus crisis that they are currently royally screwing up; perhaps this may be relevant. As of right now, Trump's re-election prospects are pretty dismal.

Trump will be easily re-elected at this rate. Coronavirus fatigue will backfire on the democrats.

I agree. Biden is speaking to all Americans, not just his supporters. Sanders won't give an inch to understand that not everyone is comfortable with the extreme left policies he stands for. I personally am fine with Medicare for All, but I'm no longer working and don't have a family to support. I just began to receive SS benefits this month, I'm fine regardless of who becomes President, even Trump won't affect me very much personally.

I'm very content with Joe Biden's messages tonight, he spoke well and spoke to all Americans. He is the better of the two to win the 2020 election. I hope when Sanders drops out, he'll also send a clear message to his supporters to do the right thing to avoid another four years of a Trump admin, which would be a threat to our democracy and our country.

Completely agree, Trumps re-election prospects at this point are dismal.

Congrats on your retirement. I hope to live long enough to get to do that for at least a week or two.

Underwhelming. That's the best the democrats have? No wonder the democrats are running on "we have to beat trump" . They don't have much else.

He never was going to be "easily re-elected" He remains an exceptionally unpopular President. Now more than ever, he looks exceptionally out of touch with reality. His opening statements at today's president conference stand as exhibit 101. He has lost the economy and the stock market as things he can run on. When a crisis hit that required leadership he looks more inept than any person elected to the office of President since at least 1932....

but, you have your wishful thinking going for you. We all appreciate that Trump and many of his supporters are divorced from reality, getting most of their news from fact-free new sources. So, believe what you want to believe, but don't expect the outcome you think will happen to happen...

Yes it is not a question whether ̶H̶i̶l̶l̶a̶r̶y̶ Biden wins but how huge ̶h̶e̶r̶ his landslide will be

Thanks, I took an early retirement over ten years ago, but I just recently applied for and started receiving my SS. I worked all of my adult life full time and overtime, with the idea of being able to retire while I was still young enough to enjoy my life. Saving whenever I could paid off for me, I never enjoyed working, just did it to pay the bills and be able to buy the things I needed or wanted. Wishing you a good long life, and hope you enjoy your retirement when that day comes for you. :peace

Why Coronavirus Has Lost Donald Trump the 2020 Election

Well said. Also, Trump does not have the advantage he had in '16 of being a newbie. Now it's very clear to everyone that he is worthless and what his agenda is....himself. His sh** stinks a hell of a lot more than it did in '16. Plus, he is Impeached.
