Our society may have reduced itself to electing the best "ear tickler" that tell people whatever lie they want to hear to the White House. Our future may be electing a new version of Donald Trump.

Who would it be in each party?

I was thinking of someone like Whoopi Goldberg or Kathy Griffin on the Democrat side.

On the GOP side, maybe Carl Paladino.

What say you?

I think we are looking at 4 more years of Trump is this country is lucky. The last president attacked by our media and ridiculed by the democrats as much as Trump was Abraham Lincoln.

Rush Limbaugh should have a go; a Limbaugh/Hannity ticket. We already have a president who likes conspiracy theories, so might as well build on that schtick; plus he's also another media persona.

I think the Trump experiment will go down in history as a failure for the Republican party. Future presidents (probably mostly Democrats) may have a bit more freedom to shoot from the hip and "tell it like it is" thanks to Trump, but I doubt we'll see another candidate like him, at least in our lifetimes. He's one of a kind.

On the serious side, presidential elections have been basically a beauty contest. Usually the candidate with the most charisma wins. Having the most money also helps. Reagan who was charismatic won easily twice over Carter and Mondale who wasn't. Now Carter had a bit more charisma than Ford, not much mind you. Carter also had the most money against Ford as did Reagan in his two wins. G.H.W. Bush, although not charismatic, at least looked better than Dukakis with that silly helmet on riding around in a tank. That little ride ended Dukakis bid for the presidency. Bush also had the most money in 1988.

Bill Clinton like Reagan was very charismatic, Bush and Dole weren't, Bill also had much more money than either one. G.W. Bush wasn't that charismatic, but he had a serous down home image, He won over two statues, Gore and Kerry. Obama had charisma, McCain and Romney, not. Both G.W. and Obama had the most money.

I don't know how to characterize 2016. Hillary Clinton certainly came across as a wet mop, elitist and aloof. Trump the obnoxious oaf. I wouldn't call either one charismatic. Hillary had almost twice the amount of money Trump had, yet he won. Fact is the candidate with the most money won every election since 1964 with the exception of 2016. Another fact is Trump energized his supporters to where they would go to the four corners of the earth for him. Hillary didn't, her support was more ho hum. At least in my opinion.

So who will win the beauty contest in 2020? I suppose we'll have to wait to find out.

That's only lucky because Trump isn't a Democrat. The US is becoming an idiocracy. The Trump phenomenon isn't partisan or ideological. I believe that there will be many more like him on both sides of the aisle. Still: A non-socialist is better than a socialist. I would rather the Brawndo be paid for with private funds instead of public funds.

Who knows after Trump. The next GOP POTUS will probably be Hispanic or a woman. The next democratic president, well none of the current above. Booker would be a good POTUS but he will never win the nomination. He is like the black Bill Richardson.

Trump isn't either party. Neither party supports him. The Republicans are stuck with him because none of their party puppets could defeat him. They will work with him as long as it is in their best interest. The people are not their best interest. They are beholding to the rich and powerful who fund both parties.

Hmm... that stupid RNC let the foolish voters nominate Trump when they should have used more "super delegates" to nominate a proper career politician. ;)

Exactly. We the People should not choose our leaders. We should at most have a choice between their bought and paid for puppets. We do get a choice between their candidate R or D. I remember feeling sorry for the Russians having to choose between bad and worse. Turns out it is the American people that I should have been feeling sorry for.

Whoever gives the best blowjob to the owners of the Federal Reserve will be appointed to play the role of "President", same as always.

Sorry, I'm not running.

Trump may have lowered the bar, but he hasn't lowered it enough for me.

So trump = Lincoln?

Lincoln would slap your face.

Whom ever it will be, the norm will be to scrutinize everything they do, everything they say and if the other party disagrees with their policies or demeanor look for any way possible to get rid of them.

Bet a lot of them are wishing they had had superdelegates.

Perhaps not since there would have been a greater chance of Hillary winning in 2016.

Depends on how bad all of this is. Trump could wreck the "brand", or more specifically republicans defending him to the end could wreck the "brand".

Pretty sure all of them would love to smash his phone and duct tape his mouth shut. Even those happy that he is fulfilling their donors demands.

Lincoln would be smart enough to know I didn't say Trump = Lincoln. He would also agree with the fact I posted.
