Now we have pretty good picture how things went so far with Trump. Recently I talked with one Trump supporter and he told things like: corruption is gone now and we can thank Trump for it (he dried swamp, but how about tax cut?), also unemployment is pretty low,.. But what about relations with other countries? Absolutely everything is good in Trump supporters eyes? Is it so that, if you're Trump's supporter you have to cheer every single word what's coming from Trump's mouth? (as he's very stable genius, like he told). Lying doesn't matter, rage tweeting don't matter at all, weird things during interviews don't matter and so on..

So we have knowledge how it is with Trump in office, right? We know something about Trump's leadership skills (like taking Ivanka to G20 meeting; for what? without official role?) - supporters absolutely love everything about Trump? If that's true, it has some impact on what people in foreign countries think about current Americans (US) - it's just inevitable outcome. I can imagine how trumpantzees yell: "it doesn't matter" - how long you can keep up with that mantra? Helping much?

I have to say this: delusion is really strong among trumpanzees and they are most likely beyond help.

So do you think that US is getting significantly better with Trump? (is that MAGA really happening now?) If so, vote Trump again and have a good time.

TDS is untreatable. Go rest.

So you have very little to complain about now. If you don't like Trump's policies, then fine, but all the made up crap has dissipated.

Some want to emphasize the issue of character, but I don't think it's that important. We've had several sorry characters as president before, and some of them have been effective and others not. LBJ was a sorry fowl mouthed excuse for a human being and a bully, but very effective in office. Truman likewise. Carter was both a back stabbing phony and a poor leader. Clinton was as bad as they come, but, again, he was effective. Woodroe Wilson ... Jesus. Don't get me started.

Good character doesn't do you any good as President. George W. Bush might have been a decent guy, but the left just made stuff up about him. He didn't lie, but they said he did. He wasn't a nazi, but they said he was. He is intelligent, but the called him stupid. Even when a president is manifestly decent opinion of his character divides along party lines. So a president might as well us his skills as a communicator to get what he wants, which is what Trump is doing.

The right has no monopoly on lionizing bad people who have policies they like, as the canonization of LBJ shows.

Even if Trump drinks the blood of newborn babies every morning he's going to be far better than anything the Democrats appear to be ready to offer up this time. Jesus Christ, what a sorry sorry bunch of radical woke reprobates. They appear to be promoting policies deliberately to incite civil war. The more crazy they are the better they poll.

Cool story. Thanks for sharing.

How'd that basic income thingy work out?

I always love these stories that begin with " I know a guy" or "I spoke with"

You sound just like Dick Gephardt.

Trump has basically undone the damage in 2 1/2 years that Obama done in 8 years.Trump is a miracle worker.Trump in a landslide victory in 2020.

Trump is not a good president.

I like some of his policies, and the fact that he gives it right back to the democrats, but I dislike the volatile & bombastic way he goes about it.

When Reagan was faced with attacks from the left or the media, he would give that little grin and shake his head, and quietly say "There they go again"

It was just experiment with 2000 and main problem was that it didn't help people to get back to work - so it's not going to part of our system. I'm not fan of UBI.

Just another failed socialist progressive experiment. Rather than embrace individual responsibility, it was a "gimme something for nothing" attitude that proved worthless.

How many times do socialist progressives keep going back to the same dry well?

It was in Discord, so it wasn't face-to-face situation - actually first die hard Trump supporter so far (in that chat) and it was pretty funny.

Trump didn't make any damage so far? Trump is just puppet, useful tool :)

I started out in the workforce in the mid 70's and the economy we have today is a godsend. The only bad thing going on right now is the hatred from the left. If they would get on board we could solve the immigration problem. Once that is under control the lack of cheap labor would drive up wages leading to the greatest economy this country has ever seen. I do feel sorry for the rest of the world who have depended on our military and our financial success. If they didn't take advantage and they stop expecting it our generosity will return.

To be honest Obama inherited a catastrophe. While the president in office when they occur takes the blame they are a normal part of our economic growth. Every so many years our economy has to reset to reflect reality not the hype that grows from the herd mentality. It makes for great political bashing for those who believe the lies. The fact of the matter is they will continue. How hard we fall and recover is what can be controlled. Just like the earthquakes along 2 moving tectonic plates they can be catastrophic or just a series of bumps as they move along.

Here's a quote from an interview with Norman Podhoretz that addresses this sentiment:

CRB: The Never Trumpers agree with you that Trump is an “unworthy vessel” but see nothing whatsoever to redeem his vices.

NP: Mainly they think he’s unfit to be president for all the obvious reasons—that he disgraces the office. I mean, I would say Bill Clinton disgraced the office. I was in England at Cambridge University when Harry Truman was president, and there were Americans there who were ashamed of the fact that somebody like Harry Truman was president.

CRB: A haberdasher.

NP: Right, and no college degree. And, of course, Andrew Jackson encountered some of that animosity. There’s snobbery in it and there’s genuine, you might say, aesthetic revulsion. It’s more than disagreements about policy, because the fact of the matter is they have few grounds for disagreement about policy. I mean, I’ve known Bill Kristol all his life, and I like him. But I must say I’m shocked by his saying that if it comes to the deep state versus Trump, he’ll take the deep state. You know, I was raised to believe that the last thing in the world you defend is your own, and I am proud to have overcome that education. I think the first thing in the world you defend is your own, especially when it’s under siege both from without and within. So the conservative elite has allowed its worst features—its sense of superiority—to overcome its intellectual powers, let’s put it that way. I don’t know how else to explain this.

The current economy is unprecedented in its greatness no matter how you slice it, and it has been especially good for minorities. Had Hillary been elected it would all be different, and we'd still be talking about how we have to settle for less -- the "new normal."

I agree. We will never know how things would have turned out if Hillary had been elected. I am thankful for that. I did not think Hillary was a leader.

Significantly better? No, though I don't know how significantly better any president could make the country in four (or even eight) years. I am firmly convinced, however, that any Democrat in the White House would make things significantly worse, which is more than enough motivation to vote for Trump in 2020.

In Trump's second term, I will do the same thing I did in his first term, the same thing I did in both of Obama's and Bush's and Clinton's terms, etc. I'll praise his performance when I approve of it and I'll criticize it when I disapprove. In other words, I call 'em like I see 'em. Trump may have saved the nation from a Hillary presidency and, God-willing, from a Biden or Harris or Warren presidency, but he's not a savior in any other sense of the word. He's a (very) fallible man whose administration performs better than that of his opponent's hypothetical administration would, IMO.
