President Donald Trump's recent unhinged tirades against the late Senator John McCain are not sitting well with many Republicans and voters who might otherwise be Trump supporters. I wonder whether their unhappiness might be the first step toward a credible Republican challenge for the 2020 nomination? Just a thought.

Yes, absolutely, the Koch brothers are not fans of trump and they can buy and sell him a hundred times over and not dent their fortune.


They are currently vetting candidates to challenge him.

I have never wished the Koch's success until this one and only time...

Same here. I've no time for the kind of oligarchy the Koch brothers desire, but anything to stop the madness.

I think Trump is setting people up. I think he's giving them a chance to go hog-wild crazy in defense of McCain so that when the undeniable truth is release they will be forced to eat their words.

So no, Jack Hays, I don't think he's leaving an opening of any kind.

I find it hard to believe Trump Fan Nation won't cheer the disrespect of a dead war hero... that is how low of an opinion I have of them. But, I will click your link and look for the video evidence.

Has anyone mentioned that McCain never had this kind of support from the Left while he was still alive?
Something must be different now.

I don't think the RNC will allow a primary challenge. It's Trump or bust.

Not that I know of. South Carolina offered to cancel it's primary if Trump is challenged though. I'm not sure why though. Trump winning South Carolina would only help him.

Yes self promotion and self enrichment is Trumps specialty. Too bad that makes him such a bad President. His biggest mistake was accepting the nomination, the scrutiny of the office will ruin him and his family. Not that he doesn't deserve it.

Trump is leading both Sanders and "Beto" with working class voters.

The truths have been hinted at and released for the last two years. There is more that has not been released, even though members of Congress have asked Trump to declassify and release the info. Trump has said that he will do so when the time is right.

In any case, I'll leave you with this...

 
It is AMAZING how far the Republican Party has fallen. My GOD!!!!! I remember when Republican honored and admired Vets and war heroes. 10 years ago if ANY Republican politician said what Trump has said about a Vets, POW's, or Gold star Families, etc., he would have been banished from the GOP and shunned by the Republican voters.. Now Trump does it almost daily and the current Republicans excuse and defend Trump. Now McCain's widow gets hate mail and death threats..

As an ex-Republican I am just flabbergasted, I have no idea or words of what has happened to the Republican party the last 10 years.

The fact is, Trump hasn't said anything bad about "Vets", "POW's" or "Gold Star families". He HAS, however, said things specifically about particular individuals...after they have attacked him.

Regarding the Republicans, they don't need to do anything. The media is doing it for them. They can keep safe and quiet without putting themselves out there against Trump, thereby keeping the anger of their base at bay.

"He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured."

People that are captured are called POWs. Those are the people he attacked.
