Is Trump Creating an Opening for a Republican Challenger?

"He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured."

People that are captured are called POWs. Those are the people he attacked.

Trump was specifically talking about "He".

The fact is, Trump hasn't said anything bad about "Vets", "POW's" or "Gold Star families". He HAS, however, said things specifically about particular individuals...after they have attacked him.

That looks award-winningly absurd right there.

So he hasn't said anything bad about them.
But he's said bad things about them.

Why do you post such obvious nonsense?

Trump was specifically talking about "He".

Actually, he made a very general statement about disliking POWs. McCain isn't a hero because he was a POW according to Trump. You're embarrassing yourself carrying this water.

What part of "said things specifically about particular individuals" escapes your comprehension?

The truths have been hinted at and released for the last two years. There is more that has not been released, even though members of Congress have asked Trump to declassify and release the info. Trump has said that he will do so when the time is right.

In any case, I'll leave you with this...

I'm sorry, but this is stupid. If there is something, than say what it is. Come clean or shut the **** up.

No,

Trump made a very specific statement about McCain. Trump referred to McCain as "he".

If Trump was making a general statement he would have said "they".

Seriously, get away from the spin. Listen to the words.

LOL!!

No.

But hey...the info is out there. All you have to do is look it up.

President Donald Trump's recent unhinged tirades against the late Senator John McCain are not sitting well with many Republicans and voters who might otherwise be Trump supporters. I wonder whether their unhappiness might be the first step toward a credible Republican challenge for the 2020 nomination? Just a thought.

Silence at army tank factory as Trump rips McCain

The primaries and general elections are a long way off.

You literally cannot make a more general statement than one built around a reference to "people."

"He's not a war hero. He's a war hero because he was captured. I like people that weren't captured."

The fact is McCain was a terrible senator who brought our country into so many foreign policy misadventures and worked to undermine our president and should’ve retired years before he died. I think criticism of him is perfectly valid. And let’s not use this leftist “unhinged” non-sense that’s just using inappropriate adjectives to color people’s opinions before they’ve seen the content

Trump was specifically talking about "He".

So Trump likes people who weren't captured if their name is McCain. Other people who were captured are okay. Good to know. I'm glad you cleared that up. I will refer to you for clarification whenever Trump bashes other military heroes.

Yeah, I watched it too. Trump blabbing about a red line, that was crossed months ago, "warlike posture" from bone spurs...then when questioned on the follow-up, he runs like a baby. As worthless as every Trump communication.

It is AMAZING how far the Republican Party has fallen. My GOD!!!!! I remember when Republican honored and admired Vets and war heroes. 10 years ago if ANY Republican politician said what Trump has said about a Vets, POW's, or Gold star Families, etc., he would have been banished from the GOP and shunned by the Republican voters.. Now Trump does it almost daily and the current Republicans excuse and defend Trump. Now McCain's widow gets hate mail and death threats..

As an ex-Republican I am just flabbergasted, I have no idea or words of what has happened to the Republican party the last 10 years.

It started the night of the 2008 election in Eric Cantor’s office, with the GOP Elite outlining their scorched-earth policy. Combine that with the evolution of the tea party and you get REDMAP 2010, easily the most consequential election in my lifetime. I first voted against trickie dickie in 1972 when I was 18.

Obama had short coattails in 2012, which was followed by losing nine Senators and the Senate in 2014. That’s when McConnell took over, blocking everything, including the Ru$$ia report in September of 2016.

The election of #45 has given the Republicans control of the Federal Judiciary for decades to come. JAG, for instance, equals Judges, Abortion, and Guns.

Everyone who really knows #45 knows he’d rather bring the country down if he’s to go down.

You do that. I'll be happy to set you straight.

I think Trump is setting people up. I think he's giving them a chance to go hog-wild crazy in defense of McCain so that when the undeniable truth is release they will be forced to eat their words.

So no, Jack Hays, I don't think he's leaving an opening of any kind.

There is no outcome in which McCain is not a hero and Trump is not a jackass.

Terrible is an opinion, so by definition it can't be a fact. Furthermore McCain was ONE Senator out of a hundred. I don't understand why people have a strong opinion about him either way.

We already know that McCain was involved in pushing the fake dossier, so I'd have to say you are already wrong.

Trump is unhinged.

Sure. That's why his audience responded with silence.

I can't speak for his audience, but the GOP is straight up trash. He'll stay at 90% approval among them (may even edge up a little with this new controversy!) and absolutely destroy any potential primary opponent, if the party apparatus even allows primary contests.

Distributing the dossier was a very good thing.

Oh...from your point of view, I'm sure it is. From an ethical and honesty point of view, it was a despicable thing to do...but that describes McCain very well.
