DP's Candidates For President 2020

So who is everybody's top pick for 2020 (Dems/Reps/I/etc)? I honestly don't care who it is as long as its not Donald Trump, but if I had to pick it'd be Marianne Williamson

Iowa Caucus First Impressions: Marianne Williamson offers spiritual guidance to the nation

Who Is Marianne Williamson, 2020 Presidential Candidate and Also Oprah's Spiritual Advisor?

Who would you pick (whether you think they'll win or not is an acceptable point of topic but secondary so don't derail!), officially declared or otherwise?

Edit: A Mod may want to move this to General Political Discussion if it gets too crazy.

Leaving aside your enthusiasm for the nomination of Oprah's spiritual adviser, I suspect the Democrat Party would have better sense than to nominate alternatives like a balls-out Socialist, or a series of can't-quite-admit-they're Socialists, or an old-timer with an unexplored yet very questionable history of financial shenanigans.
With that in mind, maybe they would be drawn to a CEO of a successful company who has shown what appears to be candor even though he could be simply trying to capture a segment of the Party that feels isolated.
And after all, political experience does not appear to be a requirement for success.

Still another Democrat who openly declares hatred of the United States and capitalism wanting to be president. How many USA hating Democrats now want to be president? 20? 30?

The contest in the Democratic primary is which candidate can better express more hatred and contempt of the United States and Americans in the greatest number of ways most furiously.

I want to see a Bernie/Tulsi ticket, specifically.

I despise centrism and feel that decades of neo-con and neo-liberal administrations and policy have brought us to where we are today, a situation where a populace that's fed-up with business-as-usual-politics didn't hate Trump enough to not elect him. **** Joe Biden. **** the old gaurd.

While I'm at it, **** fake , 'me too' faux-progressives like Booker and Harris. The only candidates that I'm even remotely interested in are Bernie, Tulsi, and Warren, and Warren's been ****ting the bed lately. She's not quite the leader that Bernie is, and often makes political moves that end up biting her in the ass. She even went on TYT and back-peddled on PAC-money during the general election, which I feel is comparable to showing up on Fox News and declaring that you're going to eat aborted fetuses,

I'm a little confused about Tulsi's stance on military interventionism. I like what she says about not doing regime change, but when she says that she's 'tough on terror', I get a bit of a Bush jr vibe. Overall, I'd be perfectly fine with having her as president, but I think that Sanders is going to fight harder on a domestic front, and I think he has a much better chance of winning, anyway. I also think that having a much younger VP serves to dispense any realy concerns to be had about Sander's age.

I'm just worried the "Socialist" label may be too much. Trump and the GOP (and New Democrats of the 90s) have pumped a lot of bull**** into the American collective pain-body about it, disingenuously broad-brushing all Leftism as the same thing. And a not-insignificant sector of the American populace buys into it wholeheartedly. I do think Biden however gets treated unfairly sometimes (yes, even the corporate media) in lieu of far more legitimate criticism of his record (such as his vote in favor of the Iraq War). Hell, I'd be content with Hillary Clinton running again at this juncture, so long as Trump is made a one-term president. (And the victor swears a one-term service his or herself...)

I hear ya, but the thing about electing a Hillary Clinton in order to stave off another Trump term is that we'd probably ensure that someone just like him wins the election in the next go-around. A happy and content society doesn't elect insane people. We did.

I'd elaborate, but I'm getting ready for work.

PS - I thought Bernie was nuts for identifying as a democratic socialist and that the term is volatile, but I also despise how the Democrats cave to right-wing rhetoric on that front. I suppose that it's a double-edged sword.

Run Ocasio-Cortez in 2024 and watch the GOP/RW collapse in on themselves in a snowflake-triggered acerebral overemotional and melodramatic frothing-at-the-mouths and ideopolitical convulsions.
Flawless Victory! K/O

Fact checkers will have run AOC out of politics by then.

Silas Robertson. The guy would be epic as president.

Coincidently, I've been playing MKX a lot recently, and look forward to MK11. Somebody should make a congress mod.

Still holding out hope for Huntsman. And if he doesnt run in 2020 I'll write him in again like last time.

Probably the smartest GOP candidate to run in years. Sad for you (and everyone else) that your fellow GOP voters prefers conspiracy theory pushing Reality T.V. Star birthers over someone like Huntsman, but that's the reality of the modern day GOP.

She does a fine job making a fool of herself. As I've said before, her real enemies are fact checkers.

fact checkers couldn't run Trump out, so...

I have no party, and I certainly don't defend Trump. Beto should be judged for his own actions.

You don't understand. Republicans and their voters have shown the world that they don't care about a person's actions as long as that person has an R next to their name, and is willing to push forward the agenda they want pushed. And you best believe that the Democrats are going to take a page out of the playbook the GOP created.

Do two wrongs make a right? No, but that's where we are at today.

A recent Gallup poll revealed that Ds wanted their party to become more moderate and not move further left. Granted it was 54-41, but that is promising.

I think a moderate POTUS candidate with a more progressive VP will be the winning ticket...

Fine with me. Actually, Dems began this by supporting Bill Clinton. Let's see how Beto's primary opponents use this against him.
