If we see a "blue wave" Tuesday many will say it is Trumps fault. I don't think so, at least completely. I think it will be because the congressional republicans have, to a man, failed to exercise the smallest degree of oversite. None of the republicans have stood up to Trumps excesses and this has not gone unnoticed by the electorate. Republicans have not only turned a blind eye but have actively supported Trump in all things without regard to to Trumps immorality, illegality or total lack of ethics. In my loong, long life I have seen both parties do questionable things but I have never seen either party so totally abandon their responsibility and their oath of office as the republicans have in this congress.

You raise a good point. Had Trump allowed himself to be managed by his betters, the way Reagan or Bush Jr., both largely political incompetents on governance/policy/IQ, things would have been deeply right wing as expected, but we wouldn't have the insanity that Trump has brought along with it. Trump would not be nearly as hated by independents and the left, and the dishonest Trump supporters wouldn't have to tell us they dislike what Trump says and how he acts, but they love his accomplishments.

So many things, from the people he chose, a number of which turned out to be felons, nutters, corrupt, etc., the way he fired people (Comey, Tillerson, etc.).
His Helsinki Putin before America show.
North Korean kissing Kim's ass and getting nothing in return.
Twitter nonsense.
The constant lies.
The seemingly inappropriate business ties while still in office.
Nepotism, why are his kids in government.

I mean, it's a long list, I don't need to rehash it all. But every one of these things could have been reigned in by handlers, who have a little more decency and professionalism.

All of that said, the sad fact is that Trump is president, and he gets to make the call. He refused to be handled, he refused to get off twitter, he refused to remove his family, and Republicans told themselves they would have to play along, to reign him in. in reality, they were simply playing along, to stay in power, I understand that. But ultimately its Trump's fault.

"...Trumps immorality, illegality or total lack of ethics."

Interesting...

Not sure there is anything Congress can do about whatever you consider Trump's immorality or lack of ethics. Seems that is pretty much subjective opinion, anyway.

Illegality is a different matter. If Trump has done something that is illegal...that is, against the law...one should easily be able to point to the action and the law that was broken. Can you do that?

You are kidding, right?

Ultimately, perhaps, it can be said that it is Trumps fault. IMNSHO, the fact that they were "simply playing along to stay in power" will hurt them at the ballot box a lot harder than if they had visibly and loudly stood up against Trump when required to do so.

Part of congress" mandate as a co-equal branch of government is to be a check on the executive. There is much they could have, should have, yet failed to do. As to illegality, how about unindicted co-conspirator, or the two lawsuits on the emoluments clause, or the suit brought by the state of New York, just to name a few?

They'd rather keep their staterooms and go down with the Titanic than admit that they climbed into a lifeboat.

And what was the cause of the Red Wave of 2010? It seems to be a fairly normal condition here in America where when one side gains political power, the other side is motivated to go out and get it back. Republicans have all the political power right now. It is natural that the most motivated to vote are those on the left who dont.

You love to say that Trump has done nothing illegal because you know he can't be indicted as President. The truth is that if he wasn't in office he would have already been indicted for numerous crimes. Right now the Trump is above the law but that will change when the House switches parties. He will so busy fighting subpoenas his head will spin.

And if Republicans retain power in the House and/or the Senate?

You got that partly right. No President in history has given the people so many reasons to vote to limit his power. There has never been so much at stake in my lifetime so it is not "normal".

???

What has Trump been charged with? What has he been found guilty of?

Or...are you saying Congress should do something...what, you don't seem to be able to say...about Trump because of lawsuits?

Oh...perhaps you should get educated about what an "unindicted co-conspirator" is. I'll help.

Unindicted co-conspirator

An unindicted co-conspirator, or unindicted conspirator, is a person or entity that is alleged in an indictment to have engaged in conspiracy, but who is not charged in the same indictment. Prosecutors choose to name persons as unindicted co-conspirators for a variety of reasons including grants of immunity, pragmatic considerations, and evidentiary concerns.

Unindicted co-conspirator - Wikipedia

You want Congress to do something about Trump because someone one "alleged" something?

You know...you should probably get over your Trump hatred. It's making you stupid.

Keep your hope alive...at least, till next week. Then you can cry again.

In any case, Congressional subpoenas are a joke.

You are right. The anger, hatred and rage on the left is definitely not normal.

There is no comparison.

LOL....

I do not hate Trump. I am repulsed by him. Two years of his nonsense and you are still a Trump apologist? Why?.

I'm only asking questions...that you don't seem to have answers for. All you have is Trump hatred.
