Going to Pot

Red states need to get on the ball here, and it's happening, Oklahoma recently legalized medical marijuana and trend to legalize both medical and recreational is moving forward. This genie is not going back in the bottle and GOPers need to embrace it instead of fighting a losing war.

A very wise thing you just said! :allhail:good_job:

These folks need to take a stroll through a legal weed joint [...]As great as the farm country is here in Iowa, with world-class universities, it’s amazingly insane they don’t have this cash crop. [...]
Now, gops are running the weed business. That’s what it took.[...]
Folks shouldn’t drive on pot for a couple of half-lives for safety reasons, estimated at 30 minutes each. Think designated, just like with alcohol.

I have never gotten behind the wheel of a car in ANY kind of altered state in my entire life, not even once. It was just a decision that I made very early on and I held to it.
And I was a world class CRACK HEAD. Before that, I was a world class COKE HEAD.
I also did my share of psychedelics, too.

I just couldn't handle weed or alcohol, that's all.
I suppose Iowa could grow some half decent weed.
And you're right, now that the Republicans smell money, they're all up in it just like they got all up in the COKE back then.
One of my favorite lines was when Joe Cole said: "You know, coke is...coke's a Republican drug."

I kept repeating that line to myself when I decided to break my ten year love affair with the stuff (24 years clean now) and it helped me stay honest.

DP members should meet up in some quiet place in Co, light up and hash out all our issues. We'd walk away as best friends.

I see what you did there :)

Washington state would be a great place to get together and watch all our differences go up in smoke!

I've been remiss in putting off a mini get together with my California neighbors...
I have NOT forgotten, just family chaos and work stuff getting in the way, mostly family chaos.

I'm coming to California tomorrow. I just saw the rec M.J. prices. F. that! I'm bringing my own!

Putting M.J. legalization on every state ballot would be a great motivator to mobilize Democratic voters. Kinda like what the GOP did to win the 2004 election. I never have seen so many boys kissing on TV as I did during that 2004 campaign.

I'm not sure how a pro-M.J. commercial would go - but I know Doritos and Mtn. Dew would kick in megabucks!

There was a Netflix series about a pot dispensary called Disjointed. There were a few episodes in which Doritos were prominently displayed. Had to have been product placement. So yes, I imagine they'd want in.

If it weren't so expensive, I'd move.

Yep I watched the first season. The best part were the, "commercials", IMO :)

I skipped over a lot of it, like the obnoxious couple. The show had a lot of potential, got pushed out the door too fast. But it had a few moments that were great.

It seems like we are agreeing far more than disagreeing. I agree taxation is an important part of moderating usage, thogh it depends on how that tax money is spent.

The licenses I was referring to were CA license for recreational marijuana sales.

First, the more potent thing is largely bunk, as the old studies were flawed, using seized marijuana of widely varying quality that was frequently not stored properly. That created an artificially low baseline. High quality marijuana has been around forever. It's just more available now than it used to be.

The thing to know about marijuana edibles is that your body metabolizes it differently. Instead of absorbing smoke through your lungs to the bloodsteam to the brain, is take a less direct route through your liver, which produces a different chemical, and so has different effects. It takes longer to take effect and lasts longer. The dosages are measured differently, and people experience them VERY differently. I like it myself, as there's nothing quite like falling asleep and waking up still very high, which wouldn't generally happen with smoking.

My gf has never been a regular user, and a 50mg dose edible (fairly standard) will zonk her out for hours, whereas a regular user like myself would function fairly normally, feeling only a slight buzz.

You have to dial it in for yourself, and the process can be a little scary, as being too high can be pretty unpleasant, and there's not much to do about it except wait it out.

I find ~100mg is about right for me, and I generally dedicate a complete day to enjoying it.

Terrific!

It sounds like I asked the right person!
