Pretty simple.... New Jersey will go overwhelmingly for the Democrat. In Virginia, I predict the Republican, Gillespie, will beat the Democrat, Northam, in a very close race. Problem in Virginia for Democrats, as well as most other areas of the nation, is that they don't vote, especially in off-year elections. While New Jersey is sick to death of Christie and the Republicans there, rural areas of Virginia are still high on the Republican brand, and it is these rural areas that will put Gillespie over the top. Race could still go either way, but my money is on Gillespie. Rural areas call in their results first, so Gillespie will start with a huge lead. This happened in 2013, but saw the Democrats winning when metropolitan areas counted their votes. I think Gillespie will barely hang on and win this. I believe it may even go to a recount.
