There is a major story in the news concerning voter fraud. DJT seems to have a problem that he was not credited with winning the popular vote. DJT has created a commission to look into his claim of millions of bogus ballots cast.
Before you go off half cocked, please bear with me. I don't know if there is a major problem here (voter fraud). When I vote I have to show my picture ID. Not that long ago, I just had to say I was me. 11SEP01 changed many thing regarding identification/security. In this day and age, what is the arguement against some form of voter identification? I know there are some non-drivers in the country, so DMV permits are not 100%. Before anyone goes on a rant about a "national identity card", let me share what happened a few years back. My grandparents are buried at the USMA, West Point, NY. I had a trip planned to visit an elderly relative in NH. West Point was not that far off the route. I had been there before to pay respects (before 9/11), and there was little or no check to get on post and move freely. This trip there was an MP or civilian officer, and I was stopped and ID checked and asked what my business was. I furnished my VA drivers permit. The officer looked at the front and then he swiped the card through his hand held computer. This is NY state and my permit is issued from VA. The officer evidently got the information he needed from the magnetic stripe. Yours has one too. So my position is that there does already exist some form of national I'd card. Since all people don't drive, DMV permits are not the whole answer. My question is, since drivers surrender personal information, what is the arguement for non drivers to surrender the same along with a photo? At the citizen swearing in ceremony, there could be ID issued as part of the procedure. TBH, something about the way the DJT Administration is going about this, give me pause, but what are some of the arguements for/against? Alternate solutions?
