it seems on the left you get those who are children and those who want to be parents as the main supporters. Rich elites want more government because it gives them more power over others. Dependent sheeple want government to take care of them. Those of us who don't need a nanny state and don't feel a need to run the lives of others tend to vote against a nanny state
