[h=1]"A New Poll Suggests the Answer May Be Yes"[/h]
Even realizing what they believe is incorrect polls say Trump voters would do the same thing again anyway.

I've asked this before. Why did they vote for him in the primary? That is the better question
Alright Bucky, I think we should leave my rare support for one of your posts at just that!Chomsky,
The majority of the Democrats voting blocs come from newly eligible voters - those that are under 30, illegal immigrants, and minorities.
I do not want to paint with a broad brush but the majority of people voting under 25 are just straight out of college and do not have that much real life experience/real life knowledge. The majority of their knowledge is from textbooks and in theory.
Illegal immigrants and minorities statistically have less education so I would argue the majority of stupidity is coming from the left.
Trump voters are extremely pragmatic. Trump is securing their interests and concerns making them very intelligent.
It's highly unlikely that Sanders would have been able to get much of what he talked about through. It all cost too much and neither side of the aisle would have been inclined to raise taxes enough to get it done.
I think that you are quite right in that. Where we seem to differ is in our estimate of the impact on minds untrained in economics of a dire populist preaching socialism in the White House.
The far right are the stupidest people this country has ever seen and their unwavering support of Donald Trump through all of the slap-dash unprofessional mismanagement of the administration just reinforces that conclusion. I think that moderate voters who thought Trump might make a difference would think twice, but the Trump base, egged on by the likes of Sean Hannity would vote for Trump a hundred times just out of spite and ignorance.
What is my side? Oh, you don't know, do you?
I don't have a side, Bucko. You make a huge self-limiting mistake when you automatically assume that people you don't agree with regarding specific issues are on the "other" side. Are you also one of those people who seems to believe political affiliation is genetically determined?

Remember, not only did many of us oppose Donald Trump, most of us actually opposed him during the primaries, and many of us voted against him in the general election. The people who supported Trump embarrassed those of us who are on the right and were too smart to support that fraud.

Trump is a racist but African-Americans are a homogeneous voting bloc. It's stuff like this that endears me to Alternet and associated moonbat sites.
I'll try this one more time because many on the left STILL don't understand...half or more of Trump's votes were actually votes against Hillary. Hillary Clinton, more even than Jeb Bush, was the epitome of the political class. Half of her own party didn't want her and only voted for her because she wasn't Trump. So, when you ask "If Trump and Clinton were the candidates would you still vote for Trump?" the ONLY answer most anyone to the ideological right of Mao would give you is "Yes".
If Trump was running against Sanders you might get a few more "I just wouldn't vote" responses because even as wacky as Sanders ideas were he was at least human (and besides, he'd never get anything through). Basically, there would be less harm in a Sanders presidency than in a Clinton one.
My hope, assuming we survive the next few years, is that Americans realize that we've created a ****ing monster in DC and that we need to cage it before it kills us. We should NEVER be in a position where a Trump v Clinton election would be this problematic because the federal government should never have so much power that it becomes a problem.
I meet Americans regularly. In singles, or couples, I have found for the most part them to be reasoning, informed and intelligent people who are of their own mind.
Collectively I see ignorant apes being fed lies which they truly, truly believe.
The material I have read is that NAFTA has resulted in a net gain of jobs with higher incomes; the jobs lost are due to technology and innovation, yet the majority of Americans believe 'good times' are ahead and all we have to do is tear up NAFTA. No one is listening to the independent economists who have painted other, much more gloomy pictures.
Yet, here is Trump one day saying he will amend it, the next threatening to sign an EO to abolish it and the next saying he's willing to negotiate, playing games with allies and trading partners, which is certain to create an atmosphere of trust and respect.
He has convinced the people of West Virginia and much of the US that re-opening coal mines will give them there lives back, yet there is no market for thermal coal in North America, natural gas is cleaner and cheaper AND it would take millions to upgrade power plants to coal....nonetheless as a block they believe in their Santa Claus that the whole world can go back 30 years. And shipping it to China is NOT in the cards and they are shutting down coal in favor of natural gas [the reason this province is pushing LNG].
But they believe it because he says it, and even then HE is a notorious liar.
I think it safe you say that republicans hate Hillary as much as you hate Trump.

Why don't you tell what your side is?
Purely anecdotal but every Trump voter I know did it for one reason only.....he wasn't Clinton. So yeah, they'd vote for him again.
This is a Trump quality falsehood right here. Minorities are not "newly eligible", nor is a 29 year old, even if EVERY illegal immigrant managed to vote and voted for Hillary it still wouldn't explain the 3 million vote margin
Also *48%* of Gen X (36-51) vote for dems and even 45% of Boomers and given how few under 30s vote, no not even close to a majority of dem votes comes from that age group
Under 25 might not have much life experience, but they're sure more educated than Trumpites - only 36% of grad students voted for a republican, and they're becoming less and less educated. Back during Clinton I it was basically 50/50
