California Democrats & Independents must lead the fight vs the GOP.

From the article:

California lawmakers and the state's chief elections officer announced a new effort on Tuesday to move the state's 2020 primary up by three months, even giving the governor power to accelerate the timeline in hopes of closely following elections in Iowa and New Hampshire..."By holding our primary earlier, we will ensure that issues important to Californians are prioritized by presidential candidates from all political parties," Padilla said.

Yeah, great idea...probably leading other states to follow suit and everyone jockeying for the earliest primary. That will sure encourage candidates to be clearer on whose asses they need to kiss in order to win those primaries...no conflicting goals there.

Make all state primaries occur on the same day. Problem solved.

I have wondered about the consequences that would have. It would almost certainly change the electoral process fundamentally and I am unsure that the positive effects would outway.

Iowa and New Hampshire, for no particular reason, set the tone for a drawn-out, excruciating electoral campaign. Candidates spend more time in Iowa, pretending to like corn, than they do in almost any other state.

You don't think they like cornflaks?

That depends on what you see as being the problem. If the problem is that too few big money backed candidates (capable of running multi-state campaigns from the start) are in the race then it is a great idea.

California is a super expensive state to campaign in so both parties would be foolish to go along with the plan because it promotes those who are the most corrupt, and they can stop it.

Commonsense solutions to our complicated problems as a nation. Let's lead the way. Independent and Dems alike.
Change in North Carolina bathroom law not enough to lift California's travel ban, Becerra says - LA Times

Question, what to you is "common sense solutions"? And why shouldn't we include EVERYONE in these and not just Independents and Democrats? What about Progressives? Moderates? Centrists? Conservatives? Libertarians? Is it because you think that they don't have common sense? If so why?

I consider all those you listed independent. To many labels for a 2 party system. So to me there is the Left middle and right. To me the left aka the Dems. try to understand everyone's point of view the middle aka independents and all the rest you mentioned seem to be open somewhat to what both sides are saying. And then there is the right GOP. Who to me just want to go backwards with old laws and actions. Just my opinion.

Soo....what...are they trying to make themselves more important or something? And what happens if other states follow suit which makes it all even again? Move the date again?

The point would be to suggest to me Iowa and new hampshire to get so much attention as if this is what the majority of Americans today look like its a changing demographic and when the largest state with the most electoral votes seem as if they didn't matter something has to change the conversation other than what's the norm has been.

bill maher basically telling democrats to stop being scary little bitches and fight the GOP nasty style. Basically just get tougher and start calling them out on their lies and stealing.
