I've slowly formulated hypothesis on this and I believe it is close to the mark. I believe a Trump was an inevitable byproduct of the oppressive environment that liberals have established in our country. You literally CANNOT say anything that opposes, or even questions, liberal mainstream ideology without being given some kind of disgusting title (e.g. racist, xenophobe, bigot, sexist, ect.), no matter how reasoned and logical the disagreement is. It could even be something as simple as criticizing Obama and you're called a racist and you just don't like him because he's black.
Additionally, in the push to right some wrongs we've had in our government, in order to bring about equality, liberals have tipped the scale of quality and pushed it into a violation of rights. This can be found in the cliche "bake a cake for a homosexual wedding". I think many of of can agree that marriage equality is the proper avenue because it is not the role of the government to regulate morality, as long as there is not a victim involved. This is entirely different than a private establishment not wanting to engage in certain types of business. There is no right to the goods or services of private citizens.
Now moving on to illegal immigration, there are definite reasons to control immigration, and it's not just for physical security measures. A country without control of it's own boarders will cease to become a country. There are very real costs related to this. There are significant reasons to secure the boarder due to illicit drugs pouring in.
There are legitimate concerns regarding the culture of the Middle East and Islam, but having those concerns makes you a bigot/racist (I honestly don't know why racist because it's not a race). Yet, at the same time, if a Christian person supposedly leaves no tip for a homosexual server in a restaurant it's the next viral social media outrage showing how horrible Christians are. But you have a Muslim kill a bunch of people and they will rush to defend and distance the matter from Islam.
You have people who do not like the concept of abortion. No matter what your personal beliefs are, the idea of being against it is because the belief is that you're killing an innocent human life. Now, due to biology, women are the ones that carry the child until viability. So now being against abortion means you're a horrible person that hates women (even though women and men are actually pretty equal in their split on the issue).
If you have philosophical concerns about social safety net programs, and how it applies to personal property rights, you don't care about poor people and want them to die in gutters in the street.
Do you see the common theme here? No matter what the issue is, and no matter how logical or reasoned the objection is, you're automatically labeled with the most disgusting types of names without any caution, care, or second thought. There is no room for so many liberals to think something like, "You know, I disagree with where you are coming from, but I understand. You're not a bad person to believe such things, I just think you're wrong." No...conservatives are racists, homophobes, bigots, heartless and cruel beasts. If you voice your beliefs you WILL be shouted down. The end result is so many people have just crammed their beliefs down deep and kept their heads down. This means that there are more people who disagree with liberals than what many realize. This means that there has been a growing level of frustration being built up because you cannot speak your mind.
Now Trump comes along...he has money and name recognition. This gets his foot in the door and makes him immune to being shouted or shut down. He says so many things that are so abrasive, some of it downright ridiculous and dangerous, that people love it. They love that, FINALLY, someone is just throwing it in the faces of liberals and they are powerless to stop him. They don't even really have to like his politics or agree with everything he says. It's a release valve that is venting that built up frustration and pressure.
The Trump is born.
*sorry that was long
