You agree that the danger of Trump, having been removed from office and refusing to leave is an obvious concern ?

Everything about Trump is an obvious concern. The man is a lunatic.

And he might cause a constitutional crisis by refusing to recognize the impeachment trial if it votes to remove him.

You're still stating the obvious. I don't know why.

This show cannot be what Hamilton, Jefferson et al had in mind. This will not change a single partisan mind. As another poster stated, “.......240 years was a good run.......”

I would suggest it's EXACTLY what they had in mind. They designed a system that would prevent a hasty, ill-conceived and executed, rabid partisan mob from removing a sitting President while still having the power to remove a genuinely corrupt President down. Of course Hamilton, Jefferson, et al probably thought the House would be more competent in constructing a case.

The House constructed an excellent case.

How could they not, considering all the building blocks the ManChild bestowed upon them.

The GOP Senators are finally considering if they should vote to remove him; their only concern is "can Trump hurt me if he is out of office?" It would be up to Pence to pardon Trump with the proviso if he acted up, he would be immediately arrested on new charges.

But if the president leads a corrupt party, what is the difference ?

What Trump is accused of in the impeachment trial won't get him arrested.

The GOP senators are scared to be the first to break ranks, if a coulple were to we might see the dam break and see Trump washed away in a flood of disgust with the vile man and the corrupt, bullying and nationalistic politics of greed he represents.

Why would that be an obvious conclusion. You make blanket statements but don't explain yourself.

You said:

Yes, a president who refuses to leave office after being impeached and convicted would cause a constitutional crisis. Yes, Trump could do that. I don't believe the Senate is going to convict him, so it probably doesn't matter.

All of that is obvious. Is that the response you wanted?

I am glad you are aware that the impeachment charges are not criminal statute charges as constructed; they do not need to be.

I agree that the fear of the GOP senators for the manchild are holding them in line.

IF he did it would or should have been earier to build the case. Maybe even gather some actual evidence, maybe go the distance and take the President's resistance to court. Instead they put together what could generously be termed a token case, or more realistically a **** sandwich.

Know any other fairy stories? :lamo

If it's such and "excellent case why are they screaming and whining for more evidence? Why did they bring the case without obtaining it first?

It wasn't hard but so what if the president has GOP senators behaving like frightened school girls.

The House, per Hamilton etc., has the right to the material you call evidence.

When Trump is thrown out of office and the DAs step in, he will be forced to produce the evidence.

So you admit that a constitutional crisis is possible ?

I wonder what is going on in Pence’s head about now.....

What I mean is that it's going to take a ****ing bombshell, nothing short of a smoking gun, that will convince the right that this man and his administration is devastating this country. You can put whatever connotation or meaning you want to my words, but I'm only telling you and others that there must be something so out in the open, so horrible and so undeniable that people will have to turn from supporting him. Indicting Rudy would be the beginning of the end, and yes, a ****ing bombshell.

It will only be a bombshell if Giuliani admits under oath that he was working under the instruction of Trump. The fact that Trump went to Guilliani instead of his intelligence, DOD, and SOS means nothing to his supporters although that alone proves he didn’t want them involved for his bribery attempt.

I think even Trump's most rabid supporters admit he's guilty but say "so what?"

So according to you, this is all about Democrats "scoring," and "big."

HarHar,
What else do the Democrats have going for them? They lost with the 2016 election. They lost with the Mueller Report. They lost with the Kavanaugh confirmation. They lost with Stormy Daniels. They will never get an impeachment conviction. And now with the field of weak candidates they have, they will lose in November. JUST WHAT ARE THEY TRYING TO ACCOMPLISH WITH THIS IMPEACHMENT FARCE?

They need to score big with this current farce because someone will need to remember that back in January 2020 there was an impeachment trial.

Humble,
You are so right to be suggesting that wishful thinking is now the way to go for the hapless Democrats.
You've heard the term 'deus ex machina'? That's the bolt from the sky that will save the Democrats this November.
Their gun is running out of bullets. All those million of voters with Trump Derangement Syndrome just sitting around with no hope for the future other that hoping 67 Senators convict Trump of doing things a president is authorized to do as president.
I am so glad that I vote Republican because, right now, that makes so much more sense.

Voters in the states where those GOP senators are will remember too.

Were they supposed to win over Kavanaugh ?

What was supposed to be "won" in the Stormy Daniels scandal ?

Enjoy your little fantasy, rich, it's harmless.
