People on DP have sworn to me that this Alan "pedo" Dershowitz is a standup law man, nothing he has said on cable TV proves that. Maybe he was a good lawyer at one point in the 1960s when my parents were teenagers, but... not now.

Alan Dershowitz, the lawyer and professor emeritus at Harvard Law School, assumed his standard role Thursday in the feedback loop connecting conservative cable news and President Trump’s Twitter pronouncements.

Dershowitz joined Fox News host Tucker Carlson to denounce purported discussions within the Justice Department about using the 25th Amendment to remove the president.

‘Attempted coup d’etat’: Trump cites Alan Dershowitz in effort to discredit McCabe

Alan only cares about one thing, Israel. If you kowtow to them every single time, he will love you and make up all kinds of legal mumbo jumbo to support you. He just pulls stuff out of his yarmulke.

Jeez I was like 6 at the time. How much did he get paid???

I have never seen an exact figure although it is estimated Simpson paid at least $2 million for his legal team of which Dershowitz was a part.

You need to stop with calling others pedo without evidence. Seriously. You sound like a crazed loon.

Oh yeah the guy who spent time with Jeffrey Epstein and was his lawyer and admits he saw the women at pedo island but the one who gave him a "massage" was "very old," is not a pedo.

hm...doesn't seem like a couple of hundred thousand dollars could last 25+ years. Not with these fools anyway.

Well, for one thing, Dershowitz is famous, lauded, listened to, and is a complete Democratic liberal having campaigned and voted for Obama and at least voted for and supported Hillary.

The fact that he's been sceptical of the the schemes of these FBI agents doesn't change any of that. This "should" be the red flag moment for all white leftists.

Um no, Dershowhatz being clearly pro-trump should be a red flag moment for conservatives, but they never question why anybody flips to support Trump.

The problem here is.......he won't/can't understand your point.

I understand just fine. You guys auto-defend the strangest cast of crooks the world has ever seen. Makes one wonder why.

He's being pro constitution. This guy only has decades as a died in the wool liberal as his bona fides. By any measure of the term this was a coup attempt by members of the FBI.

I'm certain Trump is guilty of much but he is not known to have participated in an attempted coup against a sitting president of the U.S..

Dershowitz was responding to Tucker...so it's always a question of "what did Tucker say/mean"? It could be trolling/strawman, just like we see on the forums all day, every day, from right wing nutters.

Here's what I found:
“Now the suspicions of many are confirmed by one of the players in it,” Carlson declared Thursday. “The Department of Justice discussed trying to remove the president using the 25th Amendment.”
Dershowitz, who is an informal adviser to the president, was unambiguous.
“If that’s true, it is clearly an attempted coup d’etat,” he said.

Here's what McCabe is reported as having said:
"There were meetings at the Justice Department at which it was discussed whether the vice president and a majority of the Cabinet could be brought together to remove the president of the United States under the 25th Amendment," Pelley said. "These were the eight days from Comey's firing to the point that Robert Mueller was appointed special counsel. And the highest levels of American law enforcement were trying to figure out what to do with the president."

It appears to me that:
1. DOJ discussing 25 amendment is not illegal (self-evident)
2. DOJ discussing 25th is not an "attempted coup d’etat
- overthrow of an existing government; typically, this refers to an illegal, unconstitutional seizure of power by a dictator, the military, or a political faction.[1]
- discussing it, is not an "attempt"
- 25th amendment is legal, non-violent, and Pence, the other person on the ticket, would have taken over.

How is discussing using the constitutional rules of the 25th amendment, illegal?
If they had attempted to use this constitutional rule, how would it have been illegal?
coups are illegal Dutch.

The Department of Justice has no business attempting to recruit the Cabinet and the Vice President to ouster a President they dislike on a false pretense. "Obstruction of justice" does not satisfy the requirements of the 25th Amendment, so indeed the ouster of the President on such grounds would be unconstitutional and illegal.

Weird praise for a "liberal"

Just b/c righty talking heads say it's a coup, doesn't mean it is.

It didn't matter to the conspirators much did it?
