President Tweets “Challenging NBC FCC License

"I don't like what this particular press says about me, so let's prevent this press from existing."

Sure, I see no problem with this....

NBC has been reporting all morning of the detail of this. Apparently Trump looked at a slide presentation on the history of nuclear arms and took great interest in how many nukes the USA had in the Sixties or early Seventies. Supposedly the number was nine or ten times the 4,000 that we have today. Trump looked at that number and expressed that he would like to have that many today and asked about the possibility of it.

This is going to come down to how one defines the issue and if Trump can be proven to actually have said "I DONALD TRUMP PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA WANT TO INCREASE THE NUCLEAR ARSENAL OF OUR NATION BY TENFOLD.

Anything less will be said to be failure to prove the NBC story and will be called fake news by Trump and his toadies.

Of course, part of this story is that this was the meeting where Tillerson called Trump a moron after it ended. Remember how Trump said that was fake news just a few days ago? And then he did all but accept it when Tillerson refused to deny it and Trump then used the name to challenge Tillerson to a IQ contest.

So much for fake news.

The same will happen with this.

What's sad is we are at the point where we know POTUS is a serial liar, and we also know this is an empty threat by a ignorant blowhard and a "moron." If not, a comment like this is in fact an impeachable offense - it's a direct challenge to the First Amendment, and if the public and the media took it seriously because we assume that what a POTUS says IS in fact serious, then it's a direct challenge to a free society.

But Trump is so reckless and such a known liar that this will be shrugged off as just more of his bloviating nonsense, and all that now protects him from the consequences of threatening the existence of a media outlet for airing stories critical of Trump. It's incredible this is where we are just 9 months into this idiot's first term.

No, not even close. Shutting down the media is the first step toward dictatorship.
and it's not just NBC. Most of the mainstream media are reporting the same story. Trump is the only one saying it's "pure fiction."

Stop and think about it for a moment. Trumps big campaign slogan was MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. The obvious implications are that America was once great - but is no longer. So he sees a chart that shows we used to have nine to ten times the nukes we have today he of course responds like a kid looking at a shiny new toy in the display window ... I WANT THAT. Its so predictable and so Trump. Making Americas great means going back to a time of lots more nukes.... a time when woman wore dresses making it easer to grab the between the legs and hit the promised land and they knew better than to complain about it .... a time when the Mexicans we thought about were the ones who did our tile work at a fraction of US labor and helped raised out kids so we could go to the club and play golf and drink .... and a time when none of those uppity colored athletes took a knee... unless of course we asked them to get on their knees.

This whole I WANT TEN TIMES MOR NUKES fits Trump like a custom made $3,000.00 suit on a male runway model.

Meh, he will deny it, and then in a couple of days, he will come back and admit it.

The idiot is his own worst enemy. How the hell did we get here?

Oh yeah - I know. By the same people who made Duck Dynasty and the Kardashians and Honey Boo Boo famous.

He can't do away with NBC but the thought that he thinks he can is really scary.

His twin inclinations to be an authoritarian and to punish his indentified political enemies should send chills through the spines of every decent American who prizes freedom.

You are so right!

Do you support the Fairness Doctrine ?

I see our triggered cuck president needs a safe space.

Too bad for him, we aren't all moronic cowards.

A President uttering comments that tread the line of challenging or demeaning the notion of Freedom of the Press is no better than a President uttering comments that tread the line than a President uttering comments that tread the line of challenging or demeaning the notion of Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Assembly, or the Right to Bear Arms.

This is the kind of crap Trump absolutely needs to stop, and another example of his issues with his lack of impulse control combined with his use of twitter.

Unlike those that like to pound their chest in defense of the 2nd but turn a blind eye here, or those who continually want to put greater and greater checks and limits onto the 2nd but want to be offended here, I actually give a damn about the constitution across the board....this kind of attitude is completely uncalled for from a POTUS

You mean anything less should be viewed as a failure by NBC to keep from editorializing and sensationalizing a news story to suit some sort of agenda.

If Trump, as you stated, looked at a presentation and expressed a momentary desire based on that limited knowledge to reach those levels again and then began asking for more information regarding it, simply presenting the story singularly as "Trump wanted tenfold increase in nuclear arsenal" is a sensational take on the story that indicates a media derelict in their duty to provide the American People with all the relevant facts and information, as oppose to cherry picking in an effort to suite and fit an agenda they desperately want to craft and present.

Indeed, some of the very sources they use for the sensationalist, clickbait-esque, misleading headline, even indicate clearly how serious such a desire was:

"they did not take Trump’s desire for more nuclear weapons to be literally instructing the military to increase the actual numbers"

Of course, that's buried SEVEN paragraphs and a large picture into the story; a story that up until that point was treating the statement as if it WAS a legitimate and literal desire for the military to increase the actual numbers.

Indeed, the line after that indicates a far more honest and relevant type of headline that would be better at factually informing the public of the potential matter and actual issue, which would be something akin to "Questions raised about Trump's familiarity with U.S. Nuclear posture". However, Trump lacking familiarity with a matter is far less sensational, far less scandalous, fall less damning, and far less robust for Democrats to use as a means of attack then "Trump wants 10 times more nukes!!!!"

There's zero evidence that any actual order or suggestion to expand ever happened. There's zero evidence that beyond one throw away comment that anything further had occurred regarding it. There's as much evidence that he WASN'T being literal and was simply seeking further information as there was to it being a sincere desire or want. And yet the story focus almost entirely on the matter as if the one throw away comment was Trump Administration policy now.

It doesn't take a Trump "toadie" to think that's utter bull**** and a dereliction of duty on the part of media; just someone with an ounce of integrity, honest, and objectivity that bothers to take the time to read the full story.

But he's not going to. That's the worst part. He's not going to stop. This is who our President is and it is what he is going to do.

So you are faulting people from jumping to conclusions about a story which clearly identified what happened including details which made it clear that Trump was not issuing any orders nor had any policy actually changed?

I don't support shutting does news organizations.

It sounds to me like you guys really believe that the main stream media is telling the truth..

I agree. As a matter of fact he keeps getting worse.
